... music. This was a blast when Belinda and I did it at Orrefors 3 years ago, and we couldn't wait to take the kids here this time around.
A party "train" picked us up at the hotel and literally paraded us through town before arriving at the Kosta glassworks center. The dinner was very good, and included herring, fried pork, sausage, potatoes, lingonberry sauce, and cheese with dry bread. Of course there ...
... English scheduled, and we rushed there so not to miss it. We all enjoyed seeing the various important rooms of the castle and to learn the history of King Gustavus Masa and his sons Eric and John. The kids got a kick out of the original cannons that were placed along the ramparts outside as well. It was a great photo opportunity and a fun stop on our tour.
Today is the day we had arranged to go to the Volvo overseas delivery center and pick up the car. We were picked up by a friendly cab driver about 9:45 and headed out of town. The Volvo campus is huge and stretches for many miles. After arriving at the FDC and taking some cheesy pictures outside by the Volvo signs, we were greeted by our hostesses for the morning ...
Lessebo, Kronobergs Län, Sweden larzstarz... They had a crackdown on people speeding because they just got a number of speeding cameras from Japan. Motodrivers could expect a whooping $1.50 if caught car had a much larger fine to look forward to, $4.
I will also take to opportunity to update you on something else.I start with a riddle.
What do you get if you combine one of the world’s 15 most corrupt nations with the world’s most reckless money spender (UN ...
... feta and balsamic vinegar, and a mushroom, bell pepper and ham pizza with a crispy, golden crust. (The cheeses and milk products in Sweden are delicious!) Our poor young waitress dropped an entire bottle of beer on the floor, making a big mess...but they were very nice about moving us to another table and brought our food very quickly, so we left her a tip (guidebook says it's not required as in the US, but service was quite good.) Stopped ...
Nybro, Kalmar Län, Sweden aldrichc... we had a good night, from what I remember anyway...
Apart from that I went to see a couple of movies at my favourite cinema, The prince charles, I saw The Reader and Che part 1 and 2. I also went back to the Bristish Museum to see all the treasures that the British have 'stolen' from other cultures over the years. I went spcifically to see the Egyptian section including the Sphinx's beard and the Rosetta stone. I walked around the park in ...
... thin, flat hamburgers. Pat had a kebab, 'probably lamb.' We then went to Hastaveda to try to locate Helen's family. We stopped at a grocery store and found out where they lived. Her cousins Stig and Ruth have moved to Hasselholm. We did visit with Karin Persson. Her husband, Gunnar, is a cousin of Stig. I did get Ruth and Stig's telephone number and address, and also Inge and Monicas telephone numbers ...
Nybro, Sweden aldrichc... The first train was full and I didn't bother with a seat reservation. The conductor told me that I would most likely have to move, but luckily it never happened. I changed trains in Alvesta, where the on-board displays showed EVERY seat as being reserved - it was all lies! I ended up grabbing a folding seat because of that, but nobody ever showed up to claim those "reserved" seats. No matter, it was only an 80 minute ride ...
Kalmar, Småland and Blekinge, Sweden pwong... a lot. At Haga Park it was time for a picnic lunch of pasta with olives, beans, feta cheese, tomatoes, apples and olive-egg bread. At 13:00 we could wind surf. For many it was difficult to climb into the wetsuits which were very tight. Actually wind surfing was difficult as well. Some volleyball was played and mostly everyone swam, surfed or sun bathed. After returning to Capella many were very tired.
Haga Park, Sweden summercamp... seemed a little out of it and didnt seem to be enjoying life much. i guess at one point they probably were having a lot of good times there, but now all seem a little burnt out. everyone was nice there though and i had a much needed cup of coffee in the little area. the next plan was to go the train station, store our bags and then head to tivoli gardens, the giant theme park in copenhagen. we ...
