... banks and pulled over at a beaver-felled tree to pick up some woodchips for us to see. The tree's stump was cone-shaped just like in the cartoons and the woodchips the beavers had chewed off looked exactly like the ones that come out of a woodchipping machine!

After a while we got to some rapids which we would have to carry the kayaks around, so we decided to pull over for lunch before continuing above the rapids. It was a tricky business getting out of the kayaks and ...

So today is a lazy day after our adventures yesterday. Breakfast was yummy - the usual bread, ham cheese fruit yoghurt etc but plenty of it. Then we went to have a look around gavle town. Interestingly north sweden first town with some interesting architecture dating back to 1600s. The church was particularly ornate. Still boiling hot around 28 degrees so still roasting while riding around. Forgot to mention everyone in gavle seems to love American muscle cars ...

... of other bikes - managing to avoid the cyclist who cut up us on the metal ramp getting on the ferry. Was a scary moment on a wet metal ramp going into the ferry. Trine packed us up some sandwiches and Danish pastries so we found a picnic bench on the boat and enjoyed brunch. From nowhere a couple with dog appeared and sat with us. ... spot, more like a lay-by, 20 metres from the E4 which is full of traffic. Some picnic spots or motorway service areas charge for an overnight spot often up to 300 SEK and they are not the best! This place is OK, other folk are here but also noisy though free. All the facilities a motorhomers needs are available though. A long day with 12 hours on the road, except for stops of course, but what one would expect when heading up to the edge of the Arctic ...

... Yeh that didn't happened. But it may as well have! Margaux, Alex and Huw came over to where Elodie and I are staying. Our very own apartment! This novel has been a long time in the making.
