... priced ticket with an affiliated bus company that went the whole way there! Wish I'd known this before I'd wasted part of my day in my dark room, crouched over my Rough Guide like a trip-planning Gollum.
This done, I went back to the hostel, got changed, and headed for the beach. I rented a surf board for two hours for the bargain equivalent of £3.75 from a shop just over the road from the beach (handy as I could store my vest, flip-flops and towel in a locker there ...
... know his **** from his elbow). Walking in the gate it was ***********nect the hotel with the description in the book (the author should be held down and have the most recent copy forcibly inserted into his body), it was a KIP. And that was the least of the trouble, our room had been booked at the expense of the couple who had lent us their phone.
Running more than I have in about a year I went looking for somewhere else to sleep, finding a room in the ...

... games. It was great just being with my new group of friends and talking and laughing. We literally had been on the beach all day and all night. We walked back and Carly and I called in an early night while the other girls went out to the clubs. But, even though we had an "early" night, it really wasn't that early and we had drunken a good amount of beer by that point. After another late night munchie snack (shoot! Why do I do this to myself!), sleep took over my body.
Kuta, Bali, Indonesia snclark8... during the Kuta Bombings. Thankfully it was rammed to the rafters with Aussies and European Backpackers, all intent on having a great time, and hopefully giving the finger to mentals worldwide who want to kill people. Another two hours later and I finally left, alone, on the back of a Motorbike Taxi, after a fantastic time. I realise neither place is particularly cool or trendy, but who cares if you have a good time, even alone?
... So for now we will be chilling here surfing and living the dream......... Oh I forgot to mention her son has brought a massive sound system into our warung which can blast music throughout the whole beach and all the way out where we surf(kind of funny)so we bought 13 cds for ten dollars so we also have music well we lie in our hammocks.......... we're jammin! Bye for now(no internet here but we'll try to keep you updated as much as possible)
Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia baliaussietrip... adventure. The silversmithing is done by a family, a pretty large setup by Balinese standards. I ended up selecting bracelets for both me and my wife, but when I tried to pay for them with my Mastercard it was denied. Further, after messing with much international dialing and finally Skype, I learned the security office only kept extended US hours so I was unable to complete the purchase. Turns ...
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia shorinsean... fine dining restaurant. I dont think the employees or the other patrons there too pleased to see us turning their fine establishment into our drinking spot, but we were just looking to have a good time. And besides, it was happy hour! At 10 the restaurant closed so we were forced to look for a new spot. We went outside and ran in to some locals who offered to give us free rides around town. They took us to one bar, but was expensive--more than $2 for ...

Oh god, Windows Millenium with a dial-up connection? I watched 10 minutes of my life go by while I downloaded 1 Mb. I could cry. As someone said to me, welcome to the Third World. Amed/Tulamben (North-east coast, Bali) I can't believe I sat pillion on an ojek (motorcycle) all ...
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia kafir_mel... s festivities. Planned on checking out a museum in Denpasar and then a local market. Angel misinterpreted Jim's request on our behalf and took us to a shopping center (like a Wal-mart/Zellers). After checking out each floor we bailed on that and headed to the local market. Also wanted to check out the gold shops and each purchased a small necklace. Then over to the local market where we were able to grab some masks we had been looking for. Several folks followed us all the ...
