      ... more normal. I was able to put a regular shoe on for the first time in nearly 2 weeks. While at the packet-pickup, I started feeling the excitement of the race vibe. The guy who gave me my shirt and packet was wearing a Chicago Marathon shirt -- he had run the race before! I told him I was from Chicago and we chatted a bit. I started thinking, "maybe I can do this after all..."

      ... is what you have to do when leaving anywhere for a new destination - you must make your own way to the bus/train station and buy your tickets independently. The advantage here as opposed to China is that everyone speaks English, so in effect; it is simple. The hotels do not normally do a laundry service either, you have to find those yourself too but it's all part of the fun, by day.
