Took the SuperCat from Tagbilaran to Cebu City across the Cebu Straight. Easy crossing, about 90 minutes. Taxi from the harbor to Cebu City.
The Diplomat Hotel is OK, nothing fancy but the price is right. Centrally located, walk to shops. PHP50 cab ride to Ayala -- must see! I am no fan of malls but this one is done right. Lots of open spaces, outdoor restaurants and some great shops.
Up early for breakfast at the Alona Tropical Resort on the beach. Nice sunny day, and Eggs and toscino are a good start to the day. Then back to the room to pack for Cebu. Our guide Rj is going to drive us to the Ferry terminal. He is waiting for us at the top of the hill. I went to pay for the room, but at this hotel you apparently pay at the restaurant, so back down I went. First time that's ever happened to me.
All the way back to the gate where RJ met us and off we went to the Fer...
Slept very soundly at the Diplomat hotel, and after breakfast in the Hotel Lobby Lounge we met our cabbie for the morning, a referral from Juddy. We were off to the airport, but also wanted to see the Lapu Lapu monument on Mactan Island - with the airport also being on Mactan it was a good trip.
We headed over to the park, via an ATM, and on the way got to see more of Cebu in the day time. We passed a Lechon vendor and got some great pics...Allan's family is cooking one if their pigs f...
Wow - the level of poverty in PHI is astonishing - everyone hustling for a dollar - the taxi drivers are all metered but do a "hard sell" to convince you to pay a flat fee. PHI is HUMID - wow - Oddly the airplane was late (Philippine Airlines abbrev of PAL really means Plane-Always-Late - and they are the better carrier - Cebu Pacific was an hour late on a 1 hour flight - ouchie.) ... the staff there were great, but they said that they had a different hotel for us to stay in, so they loaded our bags into a van and drove us to the new place. It was a lot newer and did not have the soul or personality of the last place, but in times of need, we took it, plus the fact was that it was free. Always a good Jew boy price !!!
And Finally
And with that done, our time was over, tomorrow we have a flight to Hong Kong, where hopefully the fun will not runout
