... and the close confines of living in a big car we head off to New Zealand for 5 weeks (in another camper van). Next destination is Fiji for 2 weeks as we'll need a holiday by then, and in then onto the Cook Islands. Final destination is New York but not before a 3 week road trip in California to wrestle bears in Yosemite (Bill) and drink wine in Napa Valley (Katie)

... old days, but everything has changed now.

Even us, have changed so much.



Nico left Evia, and lives with his new wife in Kefalonia now. He seems so calm and seems to enjoy his new life. I was pleased to see him and we all remembered the good old days when he was in Evia with us. He promised to come to Evia and see us, and we shall arrange Music nights like those days again.

Carrying on with our trip West of Sami, after we visited Karavomilos and the Lake Melissani and passing by small, beautiful beaches with pebbles and crystal clear waters, we reach Agia Efimia (Saint Euphemia).

It’s a picturesque quiet town sporting wide streets and good urban-planning, with a port where numerous yachts from all over the world flock in the summertime.

According to Homer, Kefalonia and Ithaca used to compromise, along with Zakynthos, Lefkada and part of continental Acarnania the realm of the sea-fearing, resourceful, much afflicted Odysseus. It is an endless apotheosis emerging from awesome panoramic images that have marked an intense historic course in the wake of ages.

The strangest spectacle of all is the " KATAVOTHRES" – Drain Holes of Argostoli at the Cape of Agii Theodori, where large quantities of sea water move to the land and disappear in the lime-stone petrifaction just to reappear, after having flown along a 17- kilometer underground route, at Sami, at the location name KARAVOMYLOS and into the Lake ...

Numerous yachts cast anchor in its picturesque small port with the fishing boats.

Coves with sublime beaches surround it. The village has its Venetian citadel, built on the top of a hill protected its inhabitants against pirates' frequent raids and emanates an atmosphere of mystery.

... going through mountainous traditional villages that have thick evergreen vegetation and give one the opportunity of having a look at seafaring, much afflicted Ulysses’ Ithaca to the east.



Following this route we come to the historic Monastery of Themata, dedicated to Virgin Mary, situated on the top of a densely vegetated hill.

We maken er een echt zeildagje van door slagen te maken met het vaste land richting het zuiden. We omzeilen de uiterste punt van Meganisi en maken een doorsteek tussen het eilandje dat ...

Isn't that funny? I love sun, heat, swimming-pool, seaside, but I got bored in such conditions on Zakynthos. I thought as if I was in a cage. Touristic zone, small Porta Koukla, near Laganas - was too small for the city dweller like me. One restaurant and two shops when I could pay with credit cards. Is it EU at all? With such a huge touristic demand and therfore experience they didn't think much of the facilities.
