... was full of cyclists. We must have seen somewhere close to 100 throughout the day. They always appreciated us getting out ouf their way and left with a heartfelt "Bon Camiño", the galician greeting of every peregrino. Caldas de Reis, meaning "hot water for the king" has thermal waters. We found some and had to put our feet in them it felt soooooo good. Had an amazing dinner at a local bar. Now, to sleep. We are taking it easier tomorrow, after all it is only 18 ...

Rias Baixas (Bajas in Castilian) is not smoother country than the northern rias. The beaches are calmer, warmer and easier accessible and so beach tourism flourishes here, making it less nature and more resort. Never a moment alone, not even in the shoulder season.

So its mothers day today and because we are in a foursome of 3 mothers we had a "lay" day and took the BUS. From Tui to Redondela and then walked the hour to our hotel Anton at Soutoxusto.
Very different to our beautiful Portugal. Bigger, newer, dirtier and less gardens, although we have not hit the camino yet.

... from 3 BC. It was described as an ancient hilltop village with several circular stone foundations. See the photo of one of these with a restored thatch roof. Really interesting! Afterwards we decided to find the train station to see if we can walk to it tomorrow morning. It's a good thing we did because our map was wrong! The train station is now located down by the Port. It will take us about 30 minutes so we can do it. This afternoon we explored more of the old section and ...

It was an easy walk today, only 19 km. maybe we are just getting walking fit, our calves certainly have doubled in size. The camino route wasn't so spectacular today, some beautiful bits as shown in the photos. But we have made it to Spain!!!!!!!!!! Tui is a beautiful old city, nobody speaks English, had a very expensive tapas dinner, not great ...
