Port Louis, Port Louis, Mauritius vmarchal... for a good hour waiting for our driver, and once everyone got picked up but us we decided to call. He said our bus came by there but didn’t see anyone, so it had left. We were all very upset, but then he told us that he would call the driver and tell him to go back. Then this huge fifty-person tour bus showed up, and we could not believe it was for the six of us. Sure enough it was, but it only took us out of the ...
port louis, Mauritius amanda_marmotte... like having your name badge, not crossing your arms (looking at me!) and little things like this. He was also very particular about using the juniors name and making sure they examined the patients properly - which they really didnt and he caned them for. One doctor, the same one who had no clue about asthma, was asked to examine the cranial nerves and just poked the patient basically - he got a major ...
Pamplemousses, Mauritius b.herring... the Dr took a few looks at the xray and at her, obviously didn know what to do so said leave her! crazy! Also there was some building work left half done n the middle of the ward, with lots of rubble and a wheel barrow left lying around and a male nurse who looked like Gok Wan! After that bit of amusement we headed for Port louis as our fridge was looking bare. When we arrived i was tired and i was irritable but this soon turned ...
Pamplemousses, Mauritius b.herring... day I went shopping I felt a lot better about my self. I was more in my comfort zone because I was more in control since I was out with one other person who had similar interests and ideas on safety. We traveled well together knowing how to find each other and looking out for each other. I was proud of myself for standing my ground with the vendors and speaking my mind to those begging me for money just because it was obvious by my bag and crafts I bought ...
Port Louis, Mauritius jteem... and we were checking in (after a small walk and not bus to the departure building). We flew to Durban and connected to Mauritius with no drama. We arrived in Mautitius fully customs cleared and bags in hand at around 5.45pm. We then were driven to our next hotel by a pre arranged transfer. When we got there things seemed good, we were greeted by friendly staff, and offered cold scented towels to refresh with. The pool area and reception looked nice but then things went ...
Le Morne, Mauritius chperry... because everyone was looking down at the ground and then all of a sudden you'd hear a girl scream. Everyone would be doing what we called the cockroach dance, lifting their feet way high up in the air and jumping around all over the place. I'm sure we killed more cockroaches that way. We all went out for Chinese that night. It was very close to what we have at home but everything's a little milder. They made up for it with this sauce that they put on the table. IT WAS SO ...
Port Louis, Mauritius wjphilipHey there! We're finally here. For the most part, our journey to Mauritius was pleasant and uneventful, except for the long boring 8 hour layover in London. The service on Air Mauritius was awesome! Amelie, our 6mth old, is a great traveler, no fuss at all and she got the most sleep out of all of us in the private little cot! As we broke through the clouds before landing, I could already tell the country has changed a lot since I left it 30 years ago. While there was still ...
Pereybère Beach, Mauritius gmonvoisinThis was our last day in Mauritius and Andrea, Elise and I went to the shops on the other side of the harbour. There really wasn't anything that exciting to buy. We got lunch at Keg and Marlin. It was Americanized food. There were hamburgers, chicken fingers, fajitas. We then headed back to the ship and left Mauritius.
