Well I suppose we were pretty spoilt in Santorini. But I have to say Crete wasn't exactly what we had in mind!

We left Santorini on the slow boat (took about 3 hours) to Crete (which we heard was fabulous) and were sorely disappointed!

The weather was grey and pouring with rain - like really p!ssing down - and neither of us had any wet weather gear (or cagoules). Bugger. Not such good weather for people with yucky head colds!

Anyway, we ...
Crete, Greece markandnoma2009... of a water flushing toilet.

Today we will wander around the old city with trips to the open air market and the archeological museum.

The ferry and airplane rides seem to affect my (Nancy's) inner ear in a way that on land, everything continues to move. It is annoying and made hiking up and down rocky hillsides a little extra challenging. Hopefully it will quiet down now that there are nop more ferry rides.
Heraklion, Crete, Greece nsadventures... Greek story tellers - the Minoans were highly organized and technologically advanced some 4000 years ago, and well before the Greeks. The palace grounds were bought from the Turks in 1900, by a British archaeologist, Harold Evans, and he spent the next 35 years investigating and restoring (controversially) the ruins. Well done Evans and another yah boo sucks to Lord Elgin.

We went to one of the beach front bars near Leoniki Residence for cocktails. The view at ...
Heraklion, Crete, Greece kevino101Somehow wherever I am on holiday I think about Mark. Perhaps it's because you notice couples holding hands on the beach or it's just part of the holiday romance ...
Agia Pelagia, Crete, Greece belphoebe... My iPod decided it had enough and decided it didn't have aenough energy left =( me being rather annoyed since I had fully charged it that same night << (btw I think we are just flying over Garda Lake in Italy!). Took a stroll outside and by the time we ate our salads and I looked on the information board it said that our flight/gate was closing! Now we looked about 12 ...
Heraklion, Crete, Greece belphoebe... to get us eating at there place. But thankfully they didn't - with exception of one, but you have that evrywhere, don't you? "Hello come into my restaurant. We sell nice food.. fish.. meat.." and they quote the whole menu to you while all you want to do is run away. So in our case not the best way to get us to eat there. That's sounds like rather childish behaviour of us if I read that :/

I just swollowed salt water *Yuck!* The sea was lovely though - many waves!
Agia Pelagia, Crete, Greece belphoebe... apartement. But at last -we didn't think we would ever get there!- we arrived there and sat down exhausted, dripping with sweat, at the pool dipping our feet in the lovely cool water. I almost, almost, jumped in it with all my clothes on and all! After a few minutes Eve decided to get busy and clean the pool and tried to get bugs and leaves out of it with a fsihing net. When back at our aprtment we ...

Finally - after my flipflops breaking and me not being able to bend down to make them- Laura did it for me- we saw the sign we had arrived at our destination at last! Phew!

Holly & Eve

btw we are taking a cat or 5 back home!
Agia Pelagia, Crete, Greece belphoebe... mammarian support)! I had to laugh when she said they were not aiming for the 'beach look' - even though the bar, restaurant and apartments were situated right on the beach front! I think the last straw came when the World Cup started, and I expected us to be routing for Greece - only to turn up for work to discover the bar had been decorated in orange in support of Holland! Zoe, meanwhile, had found a bar job and left after the 1st night. With Nikki and I having to work so ...
