Chinese cooking is my favorite class in China. Yili also teaches that. We make a dish and then we eat it. Then we cook another! Today we made four dishes; Ma Po Doufu, Tomato Soup, Bok Choy with Oyster Sauce, and Stir-Fried Greens. I was amazed at the simplicity of the foods. On Saturday, Harry and his girlfriend, Yuyu, showed Lorren, Noelle (Lorren's sister), and me the tulous. A tulou ("to-low") is a house made out of earth, it is typically four stories high, and it is only made in Fujian province. Most tulous are circular. When the United States first saw satellite images of this area, they were very concerned with the circular structures everywhere. They thought the tulous were nuclear reactors.
