Obersaxen / GR

Well, fancy meeting you here!!

We continued on the roadbook without too much of a problem, driving through some really pretty towns and villages. We stopped at a post office, to get stamps, just in case the postcard shops didn't sell them. The change we got in Liechtenstein came in handy here! The route took us into a small town which had a Subaru dealer, so we stopped for a few bingo card photos. As we drove away from there, we saw a ...

... found a spot. Touris tat and postcards were the first stop. Luckily the little kiosk took Euros - we hadn't thought of that! But he didn't sell stamps, and directed us towards the post office. They took Euro notes, but gave change in Swiss francs, which seemed a bit odd. Anyway, no choice, so the cards got posted. At ast we were back on track.
The way back to the car park ...

The Alps.

I climbed a mountain in the Swiss Alps. I whitewater rafted on the Rhine river. It was all amazing. All I could keep saying was "I cant believe Im here. I cant believe Im doing this."

There was so much to do in the last 2 days, and Im physically exhausted. Maybe tonight I can finally sleep, because Ive been habving some trouble with that.

More later.

Quck jaunt to Liechtenstein

... building, and the government building. This area looks very modern but blends well into the surrounding mountains and old houses and buildings.

It was a sunny day but a bit chilly. I decided the best way to warm up was to hike up to the castle. I started walking up a steep hill that I thought would lead me to the castle. It passed through a beautiful residential area and eventually ended at a trail head. Perfect! From there I ...

A Day Trip To Arosa

... road traffic, especially if they park in the wrong place !!! It then climbs quite steeply up through the gorge and then beside the roadway and above the torrent. As it nears the resort it passes over the oldest concrete bridge in Switzerland, if not Europe. Entering the small town and terminating beside the lake out of which flows the previously described river.
In summer there are a few restaurants and shops available but the town seems fairly ...

Down the Rhine Valley

After our day off we next went by train down along the Rhine Valley past the Canton of Appenzelle and the Finance Capital, Vaduz in Leichenstein. Vaduz and the Principality lies high on the side of the mountain which forms the border with Austria. Apart from the distant mountains this part of our journeys was I should say the least striking in scenic wonderment!!

Our Free Day at Chur.

... seemed rather quaint after so many quite huge set-ups. The train set off out of Chur Station, then took a quick left off the main rail into the city's traffic, passing close to the City Gates and up beside a raging torrent that, with the train line and the road, filled the tight little valley up to the little resort called Arosa after first crossing one of the oldest concrete viaduct/bridges in the Swiss rail system c1910. We alighted ...

St. Moritz

... We traveled on some of the windingest roads you can imagine. Just when you thought you’d reached the valley, you would make a turn and go down some more. The scenery is so spectacular that the group is exceptionally quiet. They have to be awestruck. I know I am. The terrain returning from St. Moritz is very rocky. Wherever there is vegetation, there are cows. What a day! This was the most spectacular scenery I have ever seen. I will never be able to put into words what I ...

Davos

... a wonderful sound! As we started on our walk, we noticed that the fog was starting to descend on the valley and the temperature was getting cooler. While we walked around town, it was quite obvious that Davos is much more cosmopolitan than Kitzbuhel, not as charming and quaint. This is not to disparage Davos, it’s just that after being in Kitzbuhel (and falling in love with it), it’s hard not to make comparisons. The population in Davos is around 30,000.

As ...
