Diaper rash

... coconut version, I've always been intrigued where they came from: fresh or salt water? My mom used to go shrimping in rivers when she was a child, yet Forrest Gump and Bubba used to go shrimp fishing in the sea. So now i know, because we saw many shrimp farms in the area: farmed shrimps are raised on water that is half sea water and half fresh water, smack in the middle of a rice field, in a sort of man-made pond. A bit of trivia for you, i wrote it in ...

Hoping September won't end just yet!

The trip to Hoi An was great, we had a sleeper bus which from the outside looks like a double decker bus but inside it's setup sort of like bunk beds. There's enough room between seats to put the seat back all the way and there's plenty of leg room! I was pretty much out like a light the entire trip!

We arrived around 6am and took the opportunity to wander around the town. Hoi An is a tiny community we were able to pretty much walk around it without ...

Really long and arduous one.

As a preface, I feel obligated to tell you before reading this that it's pulled straight out of the journal and reads as so. It has no story line, little creativity, and jumps around a lot mentally and geographically bc it was written over a couple of weeks. It's merely on here to convey what I've been doing to several people who are wandering what I've been up to in Vietnam. That said, here goes nothing, literally...nothing:

Hue was cool. I took a bike out one day and ...

Historical Hue

... br>
Instantly, I forget about being the only Westerner. I forget about the dingy pillow and blanket. I no longer dread the 14 hour trip. My new friends keep me company the entire evening. We chit-chat, we laugh and my best bud across the aisle and I share my ear buds and listen to music together. When we stop for a stretch, they order me coffee, instruct me on how to drink it properly and insist upon paying. Back ...

Ok...take two on moped-ing story

... they had buttons that to this day i have no idea what they do, and for all i know I have accidently started a nuclear missile. So half an hour was spent either not moving at all and looking confusedly at the moped, or zooming off at alarming speeds with the other 3 yelling 'stop stop!' and the unfortunate one yelling back 'BUT HOW????'. Eventually we mastered them enough to make it 5m down the road, then found out actually we had no petrol. Jesus, this meant a full turn in ...

A tomb fit for a king

... was "the gay king". That is the king that was gay. Our guide must have told us this about 30 times in the course of 10 minutes, and it began to be slightly amusing. We almost started taking bets on how many times he was going to say it in one sentence! The tomb was extravagant to say the least. The king actually taxed the population 30% of their wages in order to pay for the building, and rather unsurprisingly, he was not too popular for this. To get to the main chamber of the tomb, you must ...
