    ... good and met the group this evening. 16 altogether from USA, Finland, Denmark, Australia Scotland and Ireland. Had meal together and now back at hotel for early night to try and catch up on some sleep. Busy day tomorrow! 3rd May Left hotel hotel this morning to visit Tienamen Square and Forbidden City.     Suzhou is famed for its private gardens, canals and silk and is frequently compared with Venice as 42% of the area of the city is covered by water. Suzhou is in the middle of the Yangtze Delta. The city is divided by the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal which is man made and runs from north to South of the country and is famous for the canals, stone bridges, pagodas and meticulously designed gardens.

By the time he’d driven straight past it and tried following directions given over the phone by the museum several times with no success we’d had enough and got out of the taxi somewhere in the middle of Suzhou. Luckily, thanks to our phones we worked out pretty quickly where we were and started walking in the right direction, via a little shop to buy some snacks after the nightmare taxi journey.
