... we loved it, LOL! We caught a vaporetto to Burano, another of the Venetian lagoon islands, this one famous for lace, but the crowd to catch the ferry back to Venice was massive and we thought if we got off we'd never get back on again! We were tired any way, so it was time to go home. Venice is nice but the crowds are exhausting! Venice travel tip #1 - if you are anywhere where there is a free toilet to use in Venice USE IT. ... We then arrived late to dinner, however the meal ended up making up for it. Lots of pasta, chicken and cake. Today we travelled from Marseille to Venice, an epic journey of some 10 hours along the French and Italian Rivieras and across the spine of Italy to Venice in the east!!! All the great names rolled by - Cannes, Nice, Monaco, Monte Carlo, Cap Antibes, Ventimiglia, Mentone, San Remo, then on to Genoa. Into the mountains to Milano, then on to Venice through Padua, a world of delights and history glimpsed through the scratched windows of French and Italian trains!! ...
