Onto San Marco Square next. Then catch another boat to Murano. The boat was unexpectedly 30 minutes late - Grrrrr. Lucky we were inside the waiting area at this time - standing in that hot sun would have been particularly sucky!.

Murano was lovely, we only stopped at one place on this island - too busy today, but we say the glass blowing, saw ...

One of my favorite personal collections is fish, next to my swan collection, the result of my friend Pat Thatcher who started me on it decades ago. But the core of my glass came from my mother who was an avid finder and acquirer. I've got another fish in my sights here. This one, no way; the one I'm looking at is much smaller ...

So many other people were shooting away. There was no Mass going on but the place gave me goosebumps like if something was acknowledging that we were there. Since it was the anniversary of his passing, Mark and I lit a candle for our brother-in-law Roger and sat in a pew for a bit and said ...

... so we had to go up in the lift. At the top there was a shop and we bought some postcards and a magnet and 2 jigsaws but we haven't done them yet. We went to the Rialto bridge and bought some masks and then we had some fish biting our feet and it tickled a little bit. The twins couldn't have a go so they got a fan, Olivia had a yellow one with glitter sparkles and Allegra had a red one with flowers. We could only have 10 minutes with the fish ...

... all, but it's just not enough for me.

I got back to the hostel and felt like I had to get out of here. I couldn't stay in Venice much longer. This small epiphany was giving me claustrophobia and I needed to go somewhere new. I was also feeling rather bored of Venice now. I booked a B&B for the following night back on mainland Italy and decided to give myself 4 days away before returning for the end of the Carnival.
