Earlier in my travels I had heard of the Oktoberfest in a small town in Brazil and on my second morning found that my hostel was running a trip to it. I signed up and headed off on the 2.5 hour bus journey to see the biggest celebrations outside of Germany. 5 painful hours later we arrived and were let loose in the venue with the plan of meeting back at the entrance 7 hours later (around 3am).

Anyway, having planned to go straight to Foz do Iguazu, we discovered that there were no tickets left so we had to stop for a night in Curitiba, the best place to live in Brazil, and 4 hours up the coast. Having just a day there we saw a huge greenhouse where the botanical gardens are-inspired by Crystal Palace in London. ... room. It was sooo nice - had a jacuzzi bath and all! it was more like a big house than a hostel and felt lovely clan and warm. We decided to save some money for a few days and went to the supermarket to get some food and drinks - which actually fed us for 3 days for about £30! The house was full of exchange students from other parts of South America and France who were well settled in! We chatted to them as we cooked dinner and went to bed!

... arriving, we took a long taxi ride, about an hour, up north to our apartment and checked in with the owner. We booked the apartment through AirBnB, which was turning out to be a trusty resource.
