Devi Bhawan Jodhpur

hey all
in jodphur now after a 6 hr bus ride to the city, which was so funny with a man and his horn
the driver had six different horn styles just to makwe the journey more interesting for him, so loud!!
also indian music getin used to it now

After all the fun of the fair, we jumped a bus to Jodhpur. A nice local bus, that wasn't at all scary or uncomfortable. Not at all... Jodhpur is known as the blue city, a bit like Jaipur being the pink city, except that it is actually quite blue. There's another (there's so many, it's a bit like noting down all the pubs in England) fort, which stands watch over the city below. It's very imposing and really quite impressive and it was good to while away a couple of hours in. It was nice wander...

After rushing around Jaipur like mad things we resolved to take things at a more leisurely pace in Jodhpur. We arrived mid morning by train and got a rickshaw to the most beautiful budget hotel we've ever seen. The Devi Bhawan has only fourteen rooms set in stunning gardens and perhaps most importantly in this heat, it has an amazingly inviting swimming pool. Today we set off for Jodhpur, a major Rajasthan city a couple of hundred miles south east of Jaiselmer. We were on the morning bus, leaving at 0600 hours (yes, Sir!). Although the bus was described as 'Indian Deluxe' by our hotel people, it still had all the hallmarks of non-deluxe travel, viz: a man clearing his nostrils onto the floor of the bus and then wiping his hands on the curtains; and each of the supposed sleeping bunks 'designed' for one person being crammed with three or four.
