It was late afternoon by this stage and we needed to get to Verona to check in to the next hotel. So we retraced our steps to the Metro, and found our car exactly where we had left it - wheels all in tact, no graffiti and no traffic tickets - woohoo!

... to taxi across and settle into our hotel Marco Polo on via s. Antonio. I love the feel of this hotel with us nestled up in the attic room on the third floor. We headed out to cover the top end of town before dark with a walk past the arena to the old roman bridge and roman theatre (closed for renos but fabulously old) back past the duomo (lovely) and a tour of ...

... 2 metro stops all the time in Madrid how hard could it be? Except our bags were the problem. One of the metal stems in my carrier decided to break midway so I couldn’t lean my bag against the bars anymore. Also we underestimated how hard it is to walk 30 minutes. That’s a long time.

We ended up in a somewhat of a high fashion boutiqe district. It was winding narrow cobble streets with salons and boutiques every once in a while with prices in the 1000 euros. Maybe ...
