... at 5pm. What a beautiful time at hiddensee. I would recommend this island to anyone. It's so lovely and pretty and the people are great. We had so much fun there :-) On the ferry we met up with susie, one of Marc's friends who lives in Berlin but whom is originally from the island . She is very cool and was working voluntarily behind the bar for the entire weekend. We had a great ferry ride home, chatting and laughing and reading our ...

... in for the post race party. Most of Sunday was spent sitting at the local store with everyone drinking peppermint liquor and telling lots of funny stories. There was also a couple playing beautiful music with a 12 string acoustic guitar. She is a marine biologist and speaks ...

I think I bought liquid zinc instead of sun cream and it would not rub in or off haha so for the entire trip, including the weekend at hiddensee I looked like a cricketer haha. And to be honest, I actually still have some on my arms that I just can't get off. Looked like such a dork! We arrived back to the harbour at Stralsund just after 7pm, had fish n chips at the best fish n chip boat in the Baltic and went and met Erika ...

This adorable steam engine which is kept in EXCELLENT condition, reminds one of the famous children's story of Thomas and His Friends. It's an old steam train that travels from town to town in Ruegen on one track. There are two tracks at the stations so that trains going in different directions can use the track at the same time. The sounds and dynamics of this train are hypnotic and it is a highlight of Ruegen that is a must ...

Kraft durch Freude in Prora

For a WW2 freak like myself, there is never a holiday without visiting at least one WW2 site. For those interested, do not miss Prora, the place north of Binz where Hitler planned, and during the 1930's started to build, the enormously large vacation centre for the German workers (20.000 people should be here at the same time). The Kraft durch Freude building is designed like a 5 km long multi level prison in grey concrete and brick. Most of the structure just sits rotting gently ...
