Today we woke up in Passau - this is a small town at the confluence of 3 rivers - the Danube, the Inn and the Ilz and is very picturesque. The old city was destroyed by fires in the 16th and 17th centuries and rebuilt in the architecture craze at the time -Italian Baroque. ... a sign at the top indicating that when there was snow you weren’t allowed to ski, board, toboggan or take your dog down? Turns out this road is the one we should’ve taken initially on route 33. The views from the top of the fortress were outstanding, and provided a great perspective on how the rivers coalesce around the city of Passau. We walked down on a gently sloping trail through the dense forest and then took advantage of one more hour to spend some time in this pretty city.
