Denmark can be summed up with four words: family, eat, drink, sleep! We had a great time with the Danish family and they made sure that we wouldn't be hungry for about 2 months. The days were filled with eating yummy Danish food, playing games, watching football, short walkings at the beach and drinking beer / red wine. The castle owners commissioned a number of artists about 20 years ago to create sculptures in the forest. Many of these are very interesting and others have fallen down over the years. We also found hundreds of blackberry bushes laden with fruit.

... may not even be granted. I guess they need to be quite strict about what is done to these old buildings in order to retain the character but truly some buildings aren’t worth keeping (in my humble opinion!)

I started the day with a run (my first in quite a while) which was a great way to explore the village. I ran through the village, the grounds of the castle, the small forest on the edge of the village, then past the marina. It's truly a beautiful piece of Europe. Since I was really hot when I got back from the run, I took our host's suggestion that I take a swim at the beach across the road from their house. As soon as I put my head under I realised they weren't being serious. ...
