... in Kongsberg in 1623 , and King Christian 1V sponsored its development ( and became very rich!) By the 1750's it was the largest town in Norway.
The silver works closed in 1805, but by this time the town was the site of the Royal Mint. This has ...
... some smoked pork-chops which weren't half bad either.
These Norwegians are quite fanatical about swimming, and because the water was so warm, they were in and out of the drink first thing in the morning, half a dozen times a day, and last thing at night, no matter that it would blow a brown dog off a chain.
The house comes with a bunch of bikes, and we brought another 3 with us as well in the water taxi, and we cycled up and down the island, and ...
... water and a pleasant sandy beach. Nice!
Then tonight we had a drink in P and G's room before sitting down to a delightful meal in the hotel restaurant - I had a nice rib-eye of ox.
Now - I have mentioned previously that ...
... the "bommies" that jump up out of 65m.... they manned the lines, and it wasn't long before we had 17 nice little mackerel (different fish to our mackerel), and we headed back triumphant, after also stopping to dive for some " blaushell" (mussels) which were to serve for bait for another fishing expedition.
... BBQ sit-down dinner for about 15-20, complete with the mandatory Norwegian speeches, and only interrupted by a bit of rain that was soon foiled by the brygge tarp being hoisted, we then sat around a huge open-air bonfire that is repeated right around the fjord and enjoyed the evening until I think after midnight.
