... muppets. Nevermind - the experience was amazing. We had to navigate over 30 metre crevises and past very strange and towering ice formations. Very cool. And at the end of it were all given glasses of whisky with glacier ice. I took a pic of Gem holding hers, after which she told me 'it's making me gag' - not because it was bad whisky - just because Gem couldn't remember if she liked whisky or not, and on tasting it decided she didn't. Nevermind - I got hers too.

See ya.

El Calafate, Patagonia, Argentina mikeandgem... colour. The ice is compacted so much by the wieight that it's as ***********crete. The weight has squeezed all of the air bubbles out which is apparently why it appears blue.

Occassionally, we could hear the ice creaking and growning followed by a deafening crash as the towers toppled into the lago below. Later, when we were safely on land, we saw a tower collapse. It was quite surreal and it all seemed to happen in slow motion. As the ...
O sol dah vida as cores.

Interessante ...
El Calafate, Patagonia, Argentina andre_c10002... out for something to eat we returned to our hostel where we showered, we were going to play cards but before we knew it we were all in bed asleep. 8th May 2009 We had booked on a tour today to Los Glaciares National Park to visit Glaciar Perito Moreno. We were due to be picked up at 9am but it was more like 9.30am, we waited outside wrapped up in our several layers of clothing to keep us warm. It was about an hours drive to the National Park but with the snow capped ...
El Calafate, Patagonia, Argentina dlz... cab. So i got off at the center of town in hopes of finding a cab to my hostel. Well it was raining that day and all the cabs were full. So time is running out and I am so desperate that I feel like I am going to seriously hitch hike my way to the hostel! but lucky with 10mins left I found a cab. lol and I did not miss my flight. Although you should know that the airport in calafate charges a 18 peso tax for etranjeros traveling. Did not know that at the time.
El Calafate, Argentina perezc4... in front of you. The one hour trail took us about 30 minutes and there they were. There was a lake at the bottom, we were surrounded on all sides by rock and 1, 2, 3 massive sandstone towers shot a sheer 2,100m above our heads (lake and us were at 750m, Torres are 2,850m). They were right in front of us. We heard rockslides, but none were around us. We scrambled on massive boulders to take many OCRs and other pictures. From ...
El Calafate, Patagonia, Argentina heinlisenka... very easily from viewing platforms. It is very active and you can hear the ice creak and crack as it creeps forward. We saw huge pieces of ice crack and fall into the water below, it sounds like rumbling thunder. We opted out of the boat trip which we thought was quite pricey although it did allow you to see larger pieces of ice fall away. We have some video of this so will upload when I can work out how! The 2nd day ...

El Calafate, Patagonia, Argentina mariaandevaI guess about 90% of the tourists in El Calafate are there for only one reason. To see the Perito Moreno Glacier. And in this respect, we were no different. It's an awesome sight. A simply massive 5 km wide and 60 m high mess of ice, that slowly, almost gracefully flows to meet it's end in a huge lake. So we walked the trails, taking photos like everyone else. We waited patiently at various points along the way ...
