    ... again now.
Should be a quiet morning Not arriving in Mannheim till about 1.30 then coach leaves for Speyer at 2 back for dinner leaving Mannheim at midnight. We should have been docking in Sepyer itself but an oil tanker has damaged the mooring so no ships can dock there for the near future.

Wasn't anything of interest to report this morning as we were cruising through a more Industrial area, we did however spend a pleasant time chatting to ...

First day trip of the week: Köln. Beautiful cosmopolitan city with cool mixture of old and new. The cathedral is probably the best gothic church we've visited thus far (will have to compare with Notre Dame next week). Lots of people visiting from the Rhine River cruise boats. Yikes! Had a nice walk along the Rhine and delicious lunch, especially the desserts, on the Dom Platz. Oh, one claim to fame in the cathedral is the reported remains (bones) of the 3 magi in ...

A travel blog entry by elrothchild on Oct 24, 2014

I've spent the last several days in Kaiserslautern, Germany visiting one of my best friends, Mike. He's stationed over here in the Air Force, and I haven't really spent time with him since my freshman year of college, what with his deployments and my travels, so it was really fantastic to be able to spend some quality time reconnecting. We explored a castle and a large German grocery store that was really fun, ...

    Deutschland, The Vaterland (LOL)

Arrived in Germany a day late due to a canceled flight out of RDU. We re-booked for the next day. This also happened to us the last time we went 2 yrs ago. Oh well, dry runs I guess. Jutta's brother in law had family and friends over and made about 25 types of flam kuchens. They are made on a type of thin pizza dough. Instead of tomato sauce they use a type of fresh cream (thickened) which is spread over the dough or goat's cheese (really from a cow). ...
