... is the best way of learning anything new!

On Sunday we went for a walk along the Neckar. Because of the warm weather, all of the snow is melting in the Black Forest and creating high water levels. It wasn't high enough to flood over the path, but definitely noticeable. The days are slowly getting longer again and the setting sun really lit up the trees. Not packing the scarf away just yet though...

The temperature is 28 degrees and snow showers. Heidelberg has 150,000 inhabitants. There are 6 universities. Students don't pay to go to university. Anybody can attend but must speak German. The dancing hall is where everyone gathered and partied with their powdered wigs and lice. Today most ...

It is a method used by photographers to take portraits and single out the subject without getting the background involved. It is a complex ...

A Brief Respite and an Old Friend

A travel blog entry by elrothchild on Oct 24, 2014

I've spent the last several days in Kaiserslautern, Germany visiting one of my best friends, Mike. He's stationed over here in the Air Force, and I haven't really spent time with him since my freshman year of college, what with his deployments and my travels, so it was really fantastic to be able to spend some quality time reconnecting. We explored a castle and a large German grocery store that was really fun, ...

Arrived in Germany a day late due to a canceled flight out of RDU. We re-booked for the next day. This also happened to us the last time we went 2 yrs ago. Oh well, dry runs I guess. Jutta's brother in law had family and friends over and made about 25 types of flam kuchens. They are made on a type of thin pizza dough. Instead of tomato sauce they use a type of fresh cream (thickened) which is spread over the dough or goat's cheese (really from a cow). ...
