... the forecasts is that the temperature will increase by a couple of degrees each day, reaching about 20 degrees by the time we reach Paris. Such a difference from what has been in those areas over the past two weeks. So it is a nice but cold 6 degree day to head off to Heidelberg, but later it got down to 2 degrees. I haven't been to this town for 30 years but places like this don't change much. The ruins of Heidelberg Castle up on the hill are a landmark ...

      Howdy folks,

This one is going to be a bit random, so bear with me. Steffie has been going through the attic with her parents, in an attempt to bring some order to the chaos that is the German equivalent of a backyard shed. They have found some interesting stuff to say the least including old coins, egg scissors, travelling toiletry kits and about a thousand books and puzzles. Most of it is ...

Poor Kate however, was wearing her favourite purple jeans which could not get dirty! Dad to the rescue, he became a human step ladder and at times ...

I've spent the last several days in Kaiserslautern, Germany visiting one of my best friends, Mike. He's stationed over here in the Air Force, and I haven't really spent time with him since my freshman year of college, what with his deployments and my travels, so it was really fantastic to be able to spend some quality time reconnecting. We explored a castle and a large German grocery store that was really fun, ...

Arrived in Germany a day late due to a canceled flight out of RDU. We re-booked for the next day. This also happened to us the last time we went 2 yrs ago. Oh well, dry runs I guess. Jutta's brother in law had family and friends over and made about 25 types of flam kuchens. They are made on a type of thin pizza dough. Instead of tomato sauce they use a type of fresh cream (thickened) which is spread over the dough or goat's cheese (really from a cow). ...
