... quan no ruinos.
Nawalgarh, Rājasthān, India tonicastells... for 10 minutes. Yep, you guessed it, we had to get down and climb off so that the camels could drink in peace. How many more times would we have to do this?! Walking is fine but getting down and up is a little problematic! Ed, of course, is loving the adventure! Erica had decided she would rather walk with the camels by this point and so it was only Ed and I who had the task of getting back up and continuing the trek on the camel. We walked for a few more kilometers before we came to a ...
Khuri, Rājasthān, India edandali... and I would have loved to have seen a grown woman professional showing some of her capabilities. Dinner was a buffet (the most expensive to date at 570 rupees) but the selection of dishes was vast and interesting, and catered for those that ate Indian as well as those that did not. Once again the conversation was enjoyable. I do like these guys and am quite comfortable with them. The place we are staying in is so peaceful, no honking ...
Ca ...

Mandawa, India buddha_belly... grounds were amazing we had dinner in the gardens with lots of local entertainment and music being played - dinner was good although its never easy getting to know everyone. The hotel had so much character but our room was disappointing as we got twin beds - no hairdryer and quite run down - BUT HOT Water and a bath! Lovely!

Castle Madawa
Ambiance 3.5
Food 3.5
Service 3
Room 2
Location 2.5
Mandawa, Rajasthan, India andrewsl... without seeing it ourselves. To enter any temple, one must take off their shoes. This normally isn't a problem, but there normally isn't the threat of stepping on rat feces, or worse yet, a rat itself. As we walked into the temple, we initially saw just a handful, but we didn't realize that we weren't fully IN the temple. We entered the next room, and the smell hit us as quick as the sight hit our stomachs. There were rats EVERYWHERE! At times, they were piled a foot ...
Mandawa, India trg7... this isolated region of Rajasthan...especially if you need to get out of the city and away from hawkers, touts, and handicraft stores. The setting is beautiful with traditional mud huts glowing pink from the ubiquitous begunovillas surrounding the lodge. The service is the best I've had so far in India. The owner, Ramesh, and manager, Krishnan, went out of their way to assist guests-arranging ...
Shekhawati, India gyspyjessy... meets the dusty beige sand. Spent this pm wandering around Nawalgarh and its havelis (merchant homes from mid-19th century ish) -whose ornate, arabesque, Mughal-inspired decoration is systematically interrupted by a rainbow of Hindu deities, Britishers doing British things like drinking whisky, family and regal portraits and twentieth century contraptions such as steam trains. And they some how manage to avoid being gaudy. Laura
Nawalgarh, India hubbardtimLast stop on tour was Mandawa and by this point we had had enough sight seeing and anyway there isn't much to this place. I think the biggest draw of Mandawa is that it is about half a day drive from Delhi. Place is known for the havelis but I wasn't too impressed. This was the place where the electricity went out from 1-5 pm everyday. With nothing to do and no desire to do anything, we just wandered around the ...
