... that the Federal Government has never done it again (or so our guide said, wryly).

We did the grand tour of the power plant and the dam itself, about an hour or so. Very interesting going inside the dam tunnels and getting an appreciation of how big it was. 660 feet thick at the base (!) and 726 feet high. ... There were a couple of shops selling coffee and one of the stores we went into was run by an austrian couple who bought it 4 weeks ago! Mark had an espresso and said it was delicious! The town is famous along route 66.

A little further down the road we had a pitt stop at Roadkill Cafe. Its tagline was "you kill it, we grill it!". Lovely! Actually, it really was. We both ordered a breakfast and wolfed it down!

... needles stcking up from the ground and Zion Natonal Park with massive rocks and a mile and a half long tunnel that had been blasted through the mountain side.

We pushed it hard the last day to make it back round the Canyon (to where we had been 3 days ago) and finally went to the Skywalk, where we were the first people there and walked on the glass surface right above the Canyon. Incredible view!

... at the airport and I checked my bags in I was pretty proud of myself as one weighed exactly 50 pounds (the limit). Talk about amazing packing skills. ... The views were absolutely spectacular and we had a very good pilot who provided an interesting commentary along the way about the landscape and how some it came to be created. It took about 40 minutes to get to the Grand Canyon as we took a slight detour to fly over Lake Mead which was beautiful.
