    ... me straight to the Motel 6, where I got a room, ate, and resupplied at the Stater Bros. I bought food for 6 days. I plan to make the 136 miles to Kennedy Meadows in 6 days. Leaving the desert, tomorrow I begin climbing up to the Sierra Nevada Mountains, where California gets most of its water. This 136 mile stretch is also still somewhat dry. The water sources are still far apart, the longest being 30 miles or so. My plan for tomorrow is to do 25 ...

    ... a different landscape full of scrubby plants and many Joshua Trees.

    It was great to meet up with the family again including Dawniel's' children and one of their friends. Her brother David and family friend Elias were also there.

    Had a yummy home cooked meal and then everyone went off to see the new Hunger Games movie. I stayed home and watched fun makeover programs on cable TV.

    ... s director is here with her two dogs - one being a young jack Russell - who went for poor little Li Mu Bai . Thankfully with some quick action I was able to scoop up this poor little chicken and carry him safely back to the courtyard without any (more) damage, but I am paranoid about the gates and doors in the place now. if the Jack Russell got out he could do a lot of damage and I definitely don't want to be the one responsible for that. It was a bit too close for my liking ...
