Tuesday 15th January On the Tuesday 15th we travelled via bus to Alor Setar (or Alor Star as it's sometimes written) just 90 minutes south of Langkawi on the mainland. We the help of a friendly local and many buses we eventually arrived at our hotel around mosquito time giving us enough time to visit Malaysia's equivalent of Starbucks 'Old Town White Coffee'. Our little holiday together was reaching an end, too soon now that the wounds were starting to really heal properly. Still painful though, these wounds will surely leave some ugly scars… But isn't wounds what toughen us up anyway? Isn't scars what remind us of the lessons learnt with pain?

However, I couldn’t imagine better way to conclude a holiday than going to one of the most epic electronic music festivals in the region, Kuala Lumpur Future ...

... in which we could camp for the night. Nevertheless, we found out that the whole north part of the Malaysian west coast is not really suitable for this idea, as it is taken by a huge number of fish farms that go all along of it.

Darkness came, and we were still riding blindly trying to follow the sea, not knowing yet where to pass the night away. Finally, we ended up so far north, that we decided we rather just make the rest of the way right away ...

... is to celebrate Malaysian National Day, in 1957 they claimed their country from the British so this is an important day for them. Not sure I get the bowls of rotting food bit but nice to see the tradition in a non touristy area. I also walked passed a few McDonalds delivery mopeds and could imagine that going down a storm in the Uk, it's called McDelivery! The only real thing to see in Alor Setar was the Menora Alor Setar (tower), it was enormous and I couldn't fit ...
