Tuesday 15th January On the Tuesday 15th we travelled via bus to Alor Setar (or Alor Star as it's sometimes written) just 90 minutes south of Langkawi on the mainland. We the help of a friendly local and many buses we eventually arrived at our hotel around mosquito time giving us enough time to visit Malaysia's equivalent of Starbucks 'Old Town White Coffee'. Our little holiday together was reaching an end, too soon now that the wounds were starting to really heal properly. Still painful though, these wounds will surely leave some ugly scars… But isn't wounds what toughen us up anyway? Isn't scars what remind us of the lessons learnt with pain?

... is to celebrate Malaysian National Day, in 1957 they claimed their country from the British so this is an important day for them. Not sure I get the bowls of rotting food bit but nice to see the tradition in a non touristy area. I also walked passed a few McDonalds delivery mopeds and could imagine that going down a storm in the Uk, it's called McDelivery! The only real thing to see in Alor Setar was the Menora Alor Setar (tower), it was enormous and I couldn't fit ...
