Thee met taartjesweer
Vanmiddag had ik me wel kunnen vermaken op een terrasje. Frank zou het zonnig lenteweer genoemd hebben en mijn huid gokte op een graad of twintig. Mais où sont-elles, les filles? De meisjes zijn hier in de minderheid op het moment, geitjes niet meegerekend, dus ik moest even aan dit tekstje denken dat ik enkele weken geleden op een nog winterse ochtend uit mijn pyjamamouw schudde.

... met het organiseren van mijn houtbeleid. Zorgen voor genoeg voorraad, stapelen van de blokken, papier en karton voorzien,… Ondertussen ben ik een volleerd vuurstookster en ben ik nog meer fan dan ooit van de houtkacheltjes. De lente begint hier wel al in te zetten en mijn eerste lunch buiten was een feit, maar de ochtendstond heeft toch nog witte wolkjes in de mond.

Homestay number 1!!
Well we have been here a week so far and are staying until next Wednesday. Using the Help X progranne we were invited to stay with Sarah and her husband Dominique. What can we say? after our arrival we have been welcomed like family. In exchnage for food and a bed, we help them out with whatever needs doing. what have we done so far? more like what haven't we done!!!
A brief list; Gardening ( planting, weeding, harvesting food as its ready), jobs around the house, laying ...

a 3 hour train ride and we arrive at our destination Fresnoy en Bassigny and meet the couple we will spend the next 2 weeks with.. they are pleasant and welcoming. Dominique collects us in the van and he talks with Michael in french (which is better than i thought so I'm happy) and i sit there like a plonka and learn 'oui' yes as a start. Michael carries on chatting but says 'sim' instead....

The rest of the week wasn’t as adrenaline-rushed as that, which is a good thing. We weeded and planted, laid out mulch around plants to help retain moisture and keep down weeds, gathered sticks from the woods and tied them together for beans to climb up, moved and fixed some of the fences, and Mike got to cut the grass with a tractor.
