Wandered around trying to find a creperie that was open but no luck (Mitch reminded me that the French don’t do breakfast in a big way). ... lunch. Typical French! They only start work at 10 and then they have a 2 hour break at 12! So we changed our plan slightly and walked into the old town to admire the beautiful old buildings. Erin may have had a macaroon as well, purely to keep her energy levels up for this imminent bike ride. It was pistachio flavored and amazing (just in case anyone was wondering). After enough of a look around and thinking the bike store owners would be back from their lunch break we went to ...

... later we were able to look out across a pasture and see the same cows that had produced the very cheese we were eating. Merci les vaches pour notre fromage! About mid-day as we were coming into the tiny village of Clairveaux, we were barricaded from the rest of our route by the Gendarmerie (national police of France). With no way around, we were "forced" to hang out with the locals on the steps of their church for about an hour until ...
