There's been thunder and lightning and rain all night and it's still a bit gloomy when we meet for breakfast. The forecast is to clear by about 11am so we will take the van to our first visit today, the Carnac Alignments, and then see how the weather is. Hoping for a bike ride after that. The Carnac Alignments are a series of standing stones that are set in parallel lines. The area is 3kms long and about 50m wide. ...

And then we return to a spot that we've already been too, yes, we've been around a big circuit. Graeme gets quite a ribbing about that. We were ready to set off by 9am today. Unfortunately, my wish for no pain when I first got on the bike today was unfulfilled. Yes, it was a bit unrealistic, but surely I can hope? Perhaps tomorrow. It's forecast to be 37degrees today and we have a big day of riding planned today. Initially we were doing close to 60kms and that included a short ferry ride. Turns out however, that the ferry doesn't run until tomorrow so we will be riding a bit ...

... These excited both Rose and also Emily, the later shrieking with delight and clapping her hands as she saw them animated. Sometimes feeling like we had walked into a Tim Burton film, it really was a special thing to see, with the installations being quite moving as well as hugely imaginative. Definitely a case of only in France... With our minds full of what we had seen at The Universe Of The Scrap Metal Poet, we left for the cottage and arrived home around ...

Took the car out to Piriac sur Mer today to explore the coastal area south east of Vannes. It didn't disappoint, nice old port and quaint coastal town. We stopped off for a lakeside walk in the village of Asserac on the way there, and coffee and a bit of shopping in Roche St Bernard on the way ...
