... have already dipped into the wine) before crashing. We have a full day of Orientation and then a scavenger hunt tomorrow, so we are starting right into the hustle and bustle.

It's weird to be here. And weird to think about how this is where I'll be for the next four months. But I'm sure as classes start and I start finding a routine, it will all start to feel quite normal. I just hope I get a little bit better at French...

... is a city deep in gray scale - the mist off the lake mutes most of the buildings to white or dull stone colors, and I have yet to see a local wearing anything but black. Even the other study abroad students seem to all be wearing black, while I am very warm but not particularly sleek or urban in my turquoise coat and cargo ski pants.

Packing, packing and flying

... bought for the entire week on the slopes!! They were happy and pretty awesome on the flight and through the airports. We arrived late and took the shuttle over the border to France and stayed at the Novotel. Dinner was late and we didn't get the kids to bed until midnight. They were so amazed by the tiny patches of snow when we arrived, it made them very excited, so after dinner it took a little while to calm them down.

When the food arrived, we sampled some of the best dishes we have ever tasted. France really does have some of the best cuisine! When there was nothing left on our plates, we continued our self-guided tour of the city and found the old village (la Vieille Ville) and one of Annecy's most photographed landmarks. The bridge and surrounding architecture is artfully lit with lights of various colors. ...

... in the church but I realized my knees were showing so it'll have to be when I'm dressed more conservatively. A lot of other shops were closed because it's Monday so we need to go and see a few tomorrow. Especially the Pottery shop with a red cup with a big cow on it and two handles which I am coveting and imagining myself drinking coffee out of when I get home. It might even be my Christmas mug this year.
