    At last

I left Padang Bai to the south, heading west towards Mengwi and further south to Legian, my final destination. A nice ride, the region becoming slowly more populated again. The handover of the bike went smooth and I finally made it to Legian Beach (after an overpriced taxi ride) where I waited for the sunset together with some folks that I met there. That's it. Last night in Indonesia. Tomorrow it's time to go back home. After a month of travelling ...

    Road trippin'

Todays' road lead along the east coast of Bali, through a comparibly dry but wild landscape. Soon we were surrounded ...

2am. The guide woke us up for a short pre-summit breakfast. The sky is clear and a million stars shine as we eat our cornflakes. A long line of headlights on the mountain ridge already lets us guess where the way would lead us up. Then it starts. An incredibly steep, mostly straight path, sometimes leading through narrow channels in solidifies lava, the sole of out shoes trying to find grip on loose stones ...

The pickup jeep was on time and our journey started with 4 other people (a german and a french couple). The german guy already dropped out after an hour, vomiting all over place inside the car (thanks again for that). The poor guy had some food poisoning and I was just wondering why they had left in the first place.. Anyway, the remaining small group of three plus our ...
