I haven't seen the chair of my dissertation, mentor and friend, Cynthia Franklin in more than 12 years and we happened upon each other in China of all places. She was travelling through the country conducting trainings. We were lucky enough to meet up in the beautiful Hangzhou - a short train ride from Shanghai. The lotuses were in bloom so we were treated to a feast for the eyes and soul. It was a beautiful day and so wonderful to catch up with an old friend and ...

A really lovely afternoon and evening!

He asked if I could blow bubbles and I said yes so he insisted I take a 2nd piece of gum just for that reason. During the drive we passed part of West Lake I walked by frequently and the area where I interned, Wu Lin. Even though it was dark I could see a lot of the places I walked to while I stayed in Hangzhou, Baochu Pagoda, ...

... keep pollution down within the city.

We ended the day by heading back to the lake for a short cruise. One thing that happens to me is that people like to have a photo with me, as I am a westerner. It's very sweet when they ask, although I was a little confused when it first happened. This happened to me on the boat again and I thought it was quite fun.

    Today was a fabulous day.
