I have finally reached Hangzhou. As the capital of the mighty Song Dynasty this city is the most advanced and splendid in the world. The city itself is very large, I would say nearly one hundred miles. Hangzhou is very different than any other city I have seen on the Silk Road because it is far larger and more advanced. The city has thousands of stone bridges as well as thousands of baths. Many other cities have baths ...

After a few weeks we have finally arrived in Hangzhou. It is by far the most beautiful city I have come across yet! From everything including many of the Buddhists such as Lingyin (which had a giant gold statue of the Buddha and tons of wood carvings), and the Liuhe Pagoda, (which does not seem to be as impressive after seeing the Iron Pagoda, but it is still a sight to behold), to the West Lake, (which puts the Five ...

In the end we just ended up paying the 124 yuan fair (divide by 5.1 rate) and the students helped us with our luggage and to bring us to the college. They seemed to think he was being unreasonable and just wanted to make more money. The students were really nice despite their lack of English and helped us a lot with the reception. Before I knew it I was FINALLY ...

From Beijing we took another overnight train to Hangzhou. In Hangzhou we were met by our guides and we headed out for a lovely little stroll around the town (which apparently has the happiest people in china mostly due to being quite clean and wealthy). The town was pretty small but we did go into a museum to learn about Chinese New Year and which Chinese year we were born in. As Liam pointed out we could have just googled it but Steph found it particularly ...

... me. I'm sure someone writes down what time I come and go from my apartment. So what? The positive side of this is that I guarantee you that no one is running a meth lab in my apartment building. I feel completely safe at any hour in the day or night. Gangsters don't roam the streets. My next door neighbor isn't chopping up bodies and hiding them in his basement. Here in China, the government probably does know what you are up ...
