Vibrant Vina!

Well, I've arrived. Chile is well...quite chilly! It must be like 35 or 40 degrees outside! Considering they are on the tail end of winter down here, I guess I should have expected it. Our apartments are so cool, and our group dynamics are pretty awesome as well. Everyone has such a good spirit of adventure and is so good about meeting all these new, random people. Tomorrow, I'll become more accquainted with the city on our tour of the area, so I'm sure pictures will be coming soon. Let's jus...

Getting Adjusted...

Life is so great here! Everything is designed to go in much slower motion than in the U.S. A trip to the grocery store involves a 20 minute walk (along the Pacific Coast, mind you), getting your supplies (which is confusing when you can't even find peanut butter in the store), and a taxi ride or other long walk back to your apartment. Bread something you buy fresh and have packaged as you pick it out at the store. What you expect to be an hour long lunch at a restaurant turns into a little ov...

Casa Dulce Casa

Well we're back home as of Saturday afternoon, and by home I do mean our apartments at Roca Blanca in Vina del Mar. I am so glad to be out of the snow. Portillo was so much fun, but it was an exhausting vacation. We leave for Punta Arenas on Saturday morning...the "last city" at the end of South America. We'll be touring Patagonia and even slipping into Argentina for a day or two. For now, the most pressing things on my mind are A) classes B) homework C) shopping D) watching movies and E) wha...

... I was able to relax and have a bit of a nap on the bus. Though, it wasn't a deep sleep, because I was still expecting something to go wrong - an accident, a flat tire, ending up in Argentina, instead ... When I left La Serena today, I expected to arrive around 19:30, but I actually got here early, at 19:15. But of course, had I actually booked a bus from La Serena TO Valpo, I would have arrived early in the afternoon. But let's not talk further of ...
