... afternoon we enjoyed the pool in the hostel and a few beers in the beach bar just up the road where we met a lovely waitress who wanted to practice her English.

On Christmas eve we headed in the direction of the main tourist area closer to the huge beach in Vina del Mar. Our mission was to find out what would be open later on in the day to celebrate Mark´s favorite day of the year, Christmas eve. ...

Incredibly sad to be leaving Santiago, we set off for Valparaiso, a city on the coast, north-west of Santiago.

I often renamed our gas stations back home to Ultra ***** (in Québécois, ultramarde) and this is what Francois was thinking when we first arrived at our Hotel last night. I am sure once you see the pictures you will agree with him, it was quite scary looking, but being the optimist that I am, I told Francois not to judge a book by it's cover and that we might be pleasantly surprised. I was ...

... br> # fresh fish sausages with avacados and capers (sounds strange but were great)
      # empanadas
      # the famous Chilean dish of 'pastel de choco' (a baked pie with beef, chicken, olive, raisen, topped with mashed corn)
      # drunken pears soaked in red wine.
All washed down with proper Pisco sours, red and white wine and shots of dark liquor - yeah we were quite merry by the end at 16:30! We had had a great day and eaten out ...
