... ve heard a nasty story about a tourist being mugged in Valparaiso... It was hard to say goodbye to my new friends and the beautiful ship and all the luxery that comes along with it. But it was great to load up my battery after almost 2 months of travel. In Vino del Mar we stopped at a museum of the Easter Islands where there is one sculpture standing. They joked that it saved us an expensive trip.

Apparently, today was the end of daylight savings time in Chile (???), so when I had told everyone that it was ten to 9 which meant that we were running late, it was really only ten to 8, which meant that we were only starting to be late. The plan was to hit up the coastal cities of Valparaíso and Viña del Mar, each just a little under 2 hours away from Santiago and about 15 minutes away from each other. A stark difference to metropolitan Santiago, we arrived at the dusty town of Quintero a littled concerned at the prospect of spending our Christmas here. ... measure. So Valparaiso, on the coast about 2 hours form Santiago. I only arrived last night so all I can say so far is that its very nice and sunny and warm. Lots of people have recommended a visit here, so here I jolly well am. OK time to go visit... I didn't really give myself enough time here a really nice place to visit and Viña del Mar just north up the coast too, but I need to get to Santiago to make my flight to Easter Island.
