Suitcases by the door by 6:30, Motorcoach (aka Bus) to the Train Depot (aka Station) for our 9:00 departure for Denali. Love traveling by train - room to roam, no seat belt signs, bar always open. All good. They obviously have this down pat - apparently, they took 500,000 people from Anchorage to Denali in 2014. That's a lot of geriatrics. Nice crowd on the train. Can't believe how ...

Well today was pretty neat. We haven't really seen Denali, or Mt. McKinley, in all its glory. It's been mostly covered in clouds, but we have seen glimpses! We did wind up catching the first bus into the park, and rode the three hours to Eielson visitor center. Along the way we saw caribou, moose and calves, rare wolves and a snowshoe hare, magpies, falcons, a sleeping grizzly ...

The bus drivers are knowledgable about the park and will stop to let you take photos. If you ...

Today I made bacon, sausage, eggs and biscuits for breakfast. It was yummy! Next we all showered up and hit the Denali visitor center. Todd and I quickly looked at the exhibits and grabbed a cappuccino, while mom and dad waited for the bus to see the dog sled demonstration. Once we got to the dogs, we were able to pet them and see a new litter of 15 day old pups. They were really cute. The ranger girls took the dogs out and let them run around the track to ...

... There are always going to be parts of it that are uncomfortable, inconvenient, boring - or - in this case - all three! With aching neck and shoulder already a problem, this boneshaker bus with no headrests and tatty plastic seats was not in the least appealing to me. When the driver announced that the heater and microphone were broken, it began to resemble a torture chamber. For this stage of our adventure, I armed myself with ...
