... favourite shows I have been watching is Alaska Railroad and Mary and her husband still feature on the show and are now in their 80s. Even better was when we passed their house, Mary was standing at the door waving to the train. I bought both her books she has written, describing her life starting out as a homesteader and how the seasons change in the region.
The train trip took 9 hours. We used a clock system to identify sites of interest including animals and views. People ...
... After dinner we went into the general store to get ice cream and look for Stubbs. Stubbs is the Mayor of Talkeetna and the boys wanted their picture taken with him. ... gorgeous view of Denali by a short trail but it was grey, cold, and rainy -- didn't venture out even for Mother Nature's sake. Gorgeous views at some points but mostly, trees on either side for most of the way with mountains too far out to see clearly. Was so relieved to recognize Anchorage city streets and to be dropped off at hotel for the night.
Took a warm shower and had cold wraps, tasty though, for dinner and dropped of to sleep.
