Well today was pretty neat. We haven't really seen Denali, or Mt. McKinley, in all its glory. It's been mostly covered in clouds, but we have seen glimpses! We did wind up catching the first bus into the park, and rode the three hours to Eielson visitor center. Along the way we saw caribou, moose and calves, rare wolves and a snowshoe hare, magpies, falcons, a sleeping grizzly ...

... friend Jo for Christmas .... $8,400 bahahahahahahahaha. We ended up at Lynx pizza pub for dinner, where we shared a medium pizza ... We should have ordered small as it was HUGE. I got the giggles when I went to the loo as the door was so close to the toilet seat that when sitting, my feet stuck out under the door and my head hit the back of the door. Denali village is a small settlement but is the starting point for lots of tours..helicopter and plane flights into the mountains, rafting the rivers, hiking, wilderness tours etc. Given the weather I was sorry I hadn't booked in to a flight around Mt McKinley but I wasn't to know that we would be here on the most perfect day. Thurs ...

We scrambled to get to the park in time for the 9:30 bus but, although we made it, there were no spare seats, and it looked like we might have to wait around until the 11am bus. Luckily, at the very last minute, there were some cancellations and we scored three standby tickets, so they were away.

The three of them headed off for Toklat River where they did a big walk for an hour or so, then hopped back on the bus ...

... we had an early start we decided to fill in the middle of the day and hired an Argo and do a tundra tour. We had a terrific time, the pastures were a blaze of colours from red, yellow, orange green, just spectacular. On the return trip I got to drive the Argo through puddle, mud pot, creek crossings, so exciting! Off tonight to see the husky kennels, rugged up as it is so cold with 50mile arctic winds. Til tomorrow Cheers ...
