... After dinner we went into the general store to get ice cream and look for Stubbs. Stubbs is the Mayor of Talkeetna and the boys wanted their picture taken with him. I dropped Miss Pat off at the Grand Denali Lodge, way up on top of a mountain, but it was the first bus puck up stop; so she got to pick the best seat. I sent her with snacks, binoculars and camera. I watched the bus drive away, and returned with the dogs to the RV. After another cup of coffee, I was ready to sew. We had picked out a focus fabric in Sitka, and coordinating fabric in Skagway. ... me if I'm ready to leave. Picture a cross between the Clampetts and the Grapes of Wrath, and you'll have a good idea. A quick stop at Skinny Dick's Halfway Inn turns into a 1 hour laugh-a-thon, as we are entertained by the owners and staff. It is a perfect introduction into Alaska for the girls.

... dots and grey dots. Our driver Manuel is great. He tells us to yell "stop" if we see anything, and at the about hourly rest stops, he's always out there cleaning all our windows. Our bus has lots of Germans and three young couples from Argentina. We saw one of their cars in the parking lot, the one painted with "Argentina to Alaska."
