    ... Ibis.

We ended up getting to the hotel at about 8 PM, so didn't have time to go back into town for dinner and to see the city. It was a bit of a bugger considering we won't have time tomorrow as we are at CERN all day. Instead, we went next door to a nice Italian place. I had an awesome risotto, and many of the others got other fantastic looking pasta dishes and pizzas.

Woke up to another beautiful day. Hotel Pavillon had been excellent and a great place to relax for the night. Dinner was a 5 course meal with great wine to celebrate harriet's birthday. According to my gps, we walker about 20km and took about 9.5 hours to complete the day - wow! No cell phone service or wifi here, so this will be posted later when we reach ...

... downhill descent that felt like it went on forever, 5 minutes of walking seemed like we were the same distance away from the bottom as 5 minutes before. Finally we reached the bottom at a tiny hamlet where there was a quaint little restaurant with a smelly toilet. We started an uphill journey yet again for 35 minutes. We were all very exhausted by the time we reached the top where there was another small ...

... also very reluctant to roll into Claire's home at midnight. The rest stop had the worlds most advanced toilets and the van was comfortable, so we didn't mind. We only felt guilty for not getting through to Claire's mother. This morning we find ourselves in better spirits across the border in France on our way to Annecy after all. Hannah and I can read signs and converse better and we're back to using Euros ...
