... opened in 1991, but, apparently when the basketball team came to town, they found the building unusable. Since their agreement with the city gave them control over use of the Pyramid, it sat vacant for about 10 years. It is not being converted to a Bass Pro megastore. Wow.

At 5pm, I joined about 300 others to watch the ducks march down the red carpet. It was very bizarre.

I didn't wake up too well. Sam says I was hungover. I was not. I simply felt ill, had a blazing headache and could not get out of bed. These are not the same thing at all. The embarrassing thing about this is that I only had 4 beers, and didn't actually get drunk the previous night on Beale St.

Despite my protests and begging, Sam dragged me downtown where we found ourselves at the National Rock and Soul museum. We got a pass to enter ...

... So, I walked over to Beale St, then along the Mississippi River. Beale St is pretty quiet in the morning!

Memphis is wonderfully walkable and easy to navigate, though the downtown is very different in what is contained within it than at home. It's odd to me to not have tons of places to eat, get coffee, and buy sundries. Here, there are different areas for different things, it feels more scattered. ...
