When I was planning this trip it was in the middle of winter. I was longing for warm, sunny beaches, and for that reason I wanted to go to Thailand. Sand as far as the eye can see, and it would be easy on the pocketbook. My friend mentioned that he wanted to go to Japan one day. I also knew of others who had been and loved it. I borrowed the Thailand and Japan 'Lonely Planet' books from the library. After reading both, the idea of going to Japan excited me ...

Finally our trip has begun! We had no trouble getting out of Saskatoon this morning despite the freezing rain that threatened to slow us down. Our first layover is in Vancouver airport. We have about 6 hours to kill. We've got lots of time to grab some food and watch one of the many tv shows that we downloaded to kill time in airports throughout the ...

Breathtaking views, great hiking trails, a beautiful alpine lodge/deck/cafe, a spectacular suspension bridge ..... It was well worth the journey!!
