Another out of Toronto trip. Up to Georgian Bay on Lake Huron, around Midland,
First stop, Sainte Marie amongst the Hurons - set up on the site of the first Jesuit/French mission to this part of Canada, in thelate 1600's to the early 1700's ... only used for about 20 odd years before raids by the Hurons against then locals forced the Jesuits to relocate down closer to Montreal.
Lots of re-enactors ... and NO SCHOOL ...
I can't believe it is nearly here. I really hope that today was the very last time that I will be at Target. A late night of report writing, 6 hours of zzz's and a few more hours at work tomorrow. Then the final pack-up and house prep! The to-do list is dwindling. Enjoyed reading the younger boys a bedtime about Pompei. Can't wait to see it!

we landed in Toronto, the pilot said it would take a while to deplane
because the runway was very slippery. That filled us the confidence!

On our seventh day we left our dock at Swift Rapids at 7:30 AM in order to get across Lake Simco and through the first lock in the canal on the other side of the lake. We were concerned about the weather on Lake Simco as we have read and heard that it can kick up and be treacherous quickly. The wind was about 15 mph out of the west and waves 1-2 feet, but at an angle to our stern which made us roll a bit on the crossing. We did fine, though ...
