Algonquin Park, Ontario, Canada navnavAfter a night stay in Owen Sound, a dull place with nothing to mention, we entered Algonquin Park for a weekend of nature and fun, Our first night in camp was a test of character and resolve after our 4 hour drive.
We arrived at the campsite at Lake of Two Rivers, full of cheer and enthusiasm for our adventure with nature. After some Alberta Whiskey & Canada Dry our spirits were even higher, then the cold came, and ...
... handsome couple) at The Maple. We were actually overdressed but I didnt care a bit. Dinner was excellent!
On our way home the next day, J took me to see Bracebridge and Gravenhurst, and we went on a reminiscent tour of his childhood places --- the Gravenhurst public beach, his aunt's house, the (now defunct) Canadian Tire that he always went to as a child, his Oma's old house, and his Opa and Oma's final resting place. I learned a lot that day, and it ...
... with no escape for either them or us. To be within 8 feet of these large animals is a little scary, fortunately for us we are kiwis and completely ignorant, and we stood very still and couldn't believe how close they came. an amazing experience. we did wonder if the animals were in fact college students dressed up as animals and hired by the park but decided that upon close examination that was most unlikely!!!!
Algonquin Park, Ontario, Canada brentandjo... old. Of course when my travels headed toward North America there was never a moment when they were not going to include visiting this wonderful family.
The setting here is incredible. The camp is set amongst forest and lakes and streams and in general breath taking scenery. It’s about 2 hours north of Toronto and not the easiest to access if you don’t have your own transport, but if you can get there its well worth the visit.
The week here has been so ...
... 4 year old birthday food and games, and meeting all the nice folks that work at Pioneer, and the beginnings of getting to know Jake and Juliet, Jake’s 2 month old sister. It was indeed a wonderful wonderful day.
I'm sleeping upstairs in the staff lodge, and it's a bit like being back at Living Springs, albeit colder... and people's accents are different. Either way it's comfortable and welcoming and familiar.
I'm so thankful to be here.
... such a nice place to spend time and relax ! There are also small island where nobody lives. It is fun to have a break, during the canoo time, and stay a few minutes on an island.
For the final walk, we saw a howsome sunset on the top of a hill. In front os us, just nature : trees, lake, hills and the sun that gone away. It was magic !
... leader's van and I talked techno with this RETARD, Dawn that reminds me of Pat on SNL. We stopped at Weber's to eat supper and registered at Doe Lake. We got to sleep in the chalet again. I'm in a room with DAWN and a new girl Sarah. Heather, Ashley and Emma are my good friends but they knew each other already, you know how it goes. Tomorrow we do our sessions... It's 1:30 a.m.! Already! I'm going to bed!
