In less than an hour, Mom will be here to pick Dad & I up and drive us to the airport hotel. Our adventure begins tomorrow morning at 4 am, and neither of us wanted to waste 45 minutes driving from home at that time of day. I can barely believe that in 24 hours I'll be somewhere over the Pacific, hopefully fast asleep. My luggage for the trip …
Meanwhile back in Calgary....
... well.
The second event was a birthday party for a friend who turned 75. His sons planned a wonderful party, complete with a limo to pick Cec up at the casino where he often spends Saturday mornings and then back for a back-yard party complete with a group of fiddlers who provided a wonderful program of music. The tables were laden with food and the sunshine had everyone in a mellow mood. A wonderful ...
Drumheller and Dinosaurs (NO not Brian)
... town of 3000 the town is now home to about 20 people. Wayne is about 10 miles south east of Drumheller. Leave the highway six miles east of Drumheller then drive 4 miles on a beautiful winding road, crossing 11 one lane bridges each with a wooden plank bed to reach a really quaint pub called the Last Chance Saloon. We stopped and parked amongst all the other bikers a very popular biking destination is this saloon we had ...
Stampede to the Finish
... After this, we were one our way out, but were stopped because there was a live concert going on and "Simple Plan" was playing. It was pretty cool to see a famous band playing out in the open. What I noticed also, is that Calgary Canadians are super chill people and don't seem to want to cause trouble and follow the rules. At any rock and roll concert at home, there would be pushing, people climbing on trees to get a better view, ...
Arrival
We arrived in Calgary, Alberta after a long day of travel. Baggage issues continue to plague us. We picked up the wrong bag from the baggage carousel. Luckily, we noticed this before driving off in the rental car. While we thought this was rather funny, the other Air Canada passenger did not! After a 3 hour drive from the Calgary Airport we arrived at Moraine Lake Lodge at 10:30 PM and quickly fell ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Delta Calgary Airport
Convenient!
Wonderful access to airport. Dropped off rental car and walked into the lobby. Room on 8th floor had a great view of the city. Great place to stay before leaving Calgary.
Highly Convenient
For the second year in a row, I decided to utilise the service and amenities of the Delta Calgary Airport in March. Though I must say that my experience was more enjoyable the first year, the second year was also adequate.
One of the key benefits of this hotel is its location. As soon as one has collected one's bags from the Canadian carousel, one simply has to take an elevator and push a cart over to the front doors of the hotel. It is also conveniently located to the rental car office and garage.
Another asset is the kind service. The bellmen, check-in staff, and servers in the restaurant have always been unbelievably personable. Though the rooms are quite small, they are equipped will all the necessities that a regular traveler may require. However, some rooms face the lobby of the hotel as their window and do not have a view of the outside. This would become rather depressing overtime, though it is fine for an excursion of a single night.
The only issue that occurred during my second stay was at breakfast. Since the breakfast was included in our rate, we were only able to dine from the underfilled Continental Breakfast selection. This was rather demoralising. Furthermore, the head waiter was quite discriminatory, in my opinion: she showed another couple to a table who had arrived after us at the restaurant.
The satisfying element of this displeasing experience was that I was able to write the manager of the hotel and receive a free room in the next twelve months: a true portrayal of the hotel's service.
Excellent hotel for flights to US
Excellent hotel for early morning flight to US. Bellman was excellent- gave us custom forms, told us what time we needed to be at airport check-in, and took our bags to check in counter. Very quiet room. We also enjoyed the Steakhouse at the hotel. The convenience of returning a rental car and immediately walking into the hotel was great.
Could fault the staff or hotel
We like most people chose this hotel for the location. We where travelling with a pet and the staff went out of their way to help us and our pet feel welcome. I cannot thank the staff for their kindness and true customer service they provided to us during our overnight stay. The convenience of this hotel is excellent, our room was spacious and clean the return carhire was also right next door. Thanks again.
Clean and Quiet
Stayed for the convenience of being right at the airport as we had a flight out the next day. Was very convenient. Should have went and checked our bags and went back to our room instead of wondering around the airport though. Was clean, quiet and very good service and atmosphere. Would stay again. Try to book in advance as the rooms fill up and get more expensive.
Was okay ...
Stayed there in the summer of 03 as had an early morning flight out the next day. Quite convenient hotel, really great! The hotel is marginally clean and seems to be overpriced. The restaurant was okay, not overwhelming. The a/c in the room wasn't working very well when I was there and frankly, I was uncomfortable all night long. Then, in hte a.m. when getting ready at 5 a.m., both of us were drying hair with hair dryer and the circuit breaker tripped (interestingly, the same thing happened to us at a hotel in Jasper ... our hairdryers are pretty standard dryers!!). Of course, at that hour, we're not going to wait for somebody to come fix it ... we had a plane to catch! When i mentioned this to the front desk personnel upon checkout, they said "oh really?" and that was it. Would I ever return here? no. I'd go to a nearby hotel and just deal with the shuttle or car rental return in the a.m. This hotel is just not worth it.
Convenience with a catch
This is probably the most convenient airport hotel I've ever stayed in!
It's also comfortable and the service was of a high standard... that is with the exception of the wake-up call. I was catching an early flight and arranged for a wake-up call but it never came! For an airport hotel this is unbelievable and undid all the other merits. Luckily the room's alarm clock was working!
Good friendly service
Flying into Calgary this hotel wins on for its convienience, literally just accross the road from the terminal. Great when you have travelled from the uk to Houston and then to Calgary the same day. The accommodation and staff are , from a UK perspective execelent. Value for money i find it good value when compared to rates in and around the UK.
Convenient location is not all Delta has to offer
Obviously this is a hotel you stay in for convenience, and it IS convenient. However, the Suites are lovely, with duvets instead of comforters, lots of space, tasteful decorations and all the amenities.
Had an opportunity to eat two meals at the hotel and both were superlative.
Overpriced due to convenient location
You can't beat the location of this hotel - across the street from the airport - that is the only reason I keep staying there. The accommodation is not worth the price charged. It is marginally clean. The front desk staff automatically give you the first available room at the farthest possible point from the elevator, and I now ask to be at least a little closer especially since I always make this trip by myself. As well, being close to the airport I have often been across the hall from a group of partiers heading off on vacation the next morning. Not too restful. Finally, the restaurant doesn't open in time to have breakfast before heading over to the airport for an early (0700) flight back to the U.S. But, the trade-off is that you can turn in your rental car the night before at the airport, and only need to walk across the street to catch a flight. The consolation is that I can have the Tim Horton's coffee and donuts that I miss by living in the U.S. :-) The hotel was better and more modestly-priced before it became part of the Delta chain.
