Today we left our big hotel rooms and headed on the road to go to Westport, Ireland. We went to Cong. We went to quiet man's bridge, where a famous movie called The Quiet Man. Episode 5

A brilliant sunny day and here was me thinking the Irish were a pretty hardy bunch, but I seem to have misjudged them, they just can't hack it when the sun comes out. All day the sun shone and it was pleasantly warm and we merely encountered 4 cyclists, 2 joggers, and 4 walkers, only one of them with a dog and 75% were oldies who are certainly a more hardy bunch than these youngsters.

... even golden in the right light, however it’s a mucky brown really and extremely fine, almost like a silt. When L walked along it she found that there was quite a lot of rubbish about. There is usually a fair bit of seaweed too. Surf schools abound, but we have yet to see any surf, surfer, or, in fact, anyone in the water at all. Not even a single sole in a wet or dry suit, have we seen.

Finally.

We have been talking about visiting Ireland for years now, always having it just narrowly lose out to places deemed more exotic (Vietnam), cheaper (Guatemala), more Incan (Peru) or less prone to constant rain (everywhere except Vancouver or a Twilight movie). Despite the long delay, Ireland has always had all sorts of characteristics drawing us their way:
