... of my highlights. I walked the crater rim and managed not to get blown off! Back on the bus and a two hourish drive back. Wine on the balcony as we set sail. Dinner and then made our way to the Caberet Lounge very early and got front row seats! We are learning! This was the last dance show before Rome and it was fantastic. ... Wandered around town while Kim shopped, and got a nice 5€ bottle red to drink while we caught up on emails, diaries etc. plenty of activity in town after siesta, but not as busy as morning. Typical old town, except that all buildings given over to tourism. I think locals have moved out. ... a samosa with batter made from pizza flour with sparkling mineral water and beer, and filled with sliced apple and speck. Fantastic flavours. Accompanied by a local red wine with heaps fruit and cinnamon after taste. Didn't need main course but had already ordered a thin crust 4 stagoni pizza (tomato, mozzarella, spinach, mushroom and artichoke). All pizzas in this town are 36cm on a 33 cm plate- huge. ... atmosphere. Not too much brand name stuff, and not particularly cheap, but Kim managed to load up on handbags. Couldn't find anything interesting for the kids- adult or junior. Set off again around 1530 for easy drive to Nicolosi which is on edge of mt Etna. Road in was bedlam but town seemed nice enough. Typical small Sicilian town. Not really being opera buffs we couldn't help but appreciate the incredible skill and talent required to sing opera.
