Sicily was absolutely beautiful! Words cannot describe it and the pictures do it no justice. The first day we saw Monreale just outside of Palermo. It is a beautiful church with gold mosaics. Then we went to Selinunte which has a bunch of Greek temple ruins. Sicily is central in the Mediterranean and was taken over by everyone at some point. ...

... swim off shore. We didn't do that, but I'll bet Kath did it two weeks ago. Just a bit cool for a dip today. We are staying in the small fishing and tourist village next door to the site, the name of which I think is Marinella. Today, driving around in Paceco (the little town near the hotel) I reached my limit as well. It was just a frustrating experience. We were there as siesta was getting underway, the streets are too narrow and the other drivers too fast. None of the signs made sense to me and ...

... 2 blond kids was in line at this point etc etc. and we had people arguing on our behalf. That was until Mitch set off the fire alarm!! I can now comfortably order wine, cappuccinos, gelatos, bread, ham, cheese and pay parking fines in Italian! No other Italian seems necessary. So after a rocky start we fell in love with the cute little village of Scopello, the view, it's beautiful beaches and felt a bit sad about leaving. Next stop, Lipari island which is part of the Aeolian ...
