      ... of design. From the terrace area you get a good view of the bell tower built between 1496 and 1506, but there was scaffolding on the top part of it. Guess maintenance needs to be done on buildings so old from time to time! It was so hazy as to be useless trying to take photos. Also visited the small square where St Mark's Square meets the canal to see the two granite columns, also brought back from Constantinople. Wonder if the Turks have asked for these ...

      ... in Venice where they showed us how lace is made and they had some really nice linen and table cloths which were like €1000 upwards! After tha we had a glass demonstration and the guy doing it turned this price of flaming hot molten glass into a horse using 2 tools and one hand pretty much. It was amazing and the Venetian glad is so beautiful, we saw these cute clear glass cats with a little orange goldfish in their tummies. Gondola ride came ...

      ... we knew where to go! Our train finally arrived and we hopped on. This time we actually had seats facing a table but, we were surprised the train had such small luggage racks -- most luggage had to be stored behind the seats or in the ends of the cars. However, it was the fast train and maybe they sacrifice space for speed: we arrived in Venice 2 hours later.

      Venice was high on the list of places to see for me as I had seen much of Italy before but unfortunately never made it to Venice. It is so unlike anywhere else in Europe with the canals and gondolas, water taxis, water buses and lack of vehicles. Venice is made up of 118 islands connected by canals and waterways.
