... so we decided it was best to settle away from the centre of town for a change and park in a residential district about 1km away... much more tranquilo!!

Splashed out on take away pizza for dinner but ate it in the shop and washed down with a bottle of beer. We became the hot topic of conversation when owners and local patrons found out we were Australian and were ...
Santa Margherita Ligure, Italian Riviera, Italy darrenhough74Sadie and I left beatiful peaceful Florence to mean unhelpful Genoa. We have been so spoiled in our travels up till this point. We usually have a bit of train trouble but nothing that can't be fixed or solved within an hour. Well landing in Genoa was not the case. The train ride up the coast was breath taking, I wanted so badly to jump off the train and stay a few days in one of the coastal towns. I think for my next trip to Europe its a must. The houses are so ...
Genoa, Italian Riviera, Italy konaduyThis morning we woke up to get ready to go on the Historic Center walking tour of Genoa. We had a nice breakfast at the buffet and I even found a decaf cappa for breakfast too. We met in the lounge at 8:45 and got on a little boat in the harbor and had a tour of the harbor and then got off at the aquarium and started our tour. Genoa is very nice and the historic section dates back ...
Genoa, Italian Riviera, Italy mamafeathersDestination 404

km197'196

A wonderful winding route via a inland section have lead me from Pisa to the coastline around Genova. But since in that part of the environment it was very hard to find a spot for bushcamping I took the toll freeway to prevent to get stuck in the chaotic traffic of Genova and headed north into the highlands of the northern region of Genova. A beatiful spot at the top of a mountain has provided perfect views to sunset and sunrise, but a bloody cold night!
Borghetto di Borbera, Piedmont, Italy martinasfamily... so forth. Upon our maiden voyage out of Munchen to Luzern (Lucerne) we quickly noticed that the city streets are shared between many forms of transportation. There are trucks, cars, scooters, bicycles, and pedestrians, along with golf carts and 4-wheelers. Anything goes. You can license anything that moves. All of this movement is sharing the road with large fast electric trains running down the center of the street. Much like our light rail ...
Santa Margherita Ligure, Italian Riviera, Italy travelingmoores... was locked in the van too! Lesson learned….Chris always makes sure he has the keys and we have written the emergency number in various places!

Well I guess that event drained me because that night I am pretty sure I was a feverish mess so I spent the rest of the day asleep recuperating but it was worth it! We didnt get to spend too much time enjoying Genova but it was a great relaxing place to be while getting over our colds.

On to Verona....

Genoa, Liguria, Italy ktchris... potatoes and some other snacks, wine and sparkling wine to have a toast for me...very sweet. His father, Maurizio, speaks very good english though with his mother we could understand eachother just using the bodylanguage or having someone to translate:)) their house is beautiful...floors put together from different stones looking like a puzzle, not to mention how big it was..the decorations ...
Genoa, Italy rambler... reminding us). We lucked out and managed to get a small appartment for the three of us only 5 minutes from the beach. So nice! We basically spent yesterday at the beach and eating. In our search for night life in Monterosso we instead found a random regional theatre group performing in the main square. In Italy, cultural hub, guess what they were performing? Disney songs! Needless to say Leni and I enjoyed ...
Monterosso, Italy belstar... white wine, and the sea air that evening... ok maybe we were just drunk but on vacation you can call it magical. The people live in these little towns and every so often you get to talk to a local and hear their story. In our case, we kind of heard a story slash were scolded for planning to drink wine out of plastic cups by this old guy at a wine shop. He talked about how it was 10 - 15 years ago ("before Rick Steves" he even said) when the occasional drunk big shot ...
