... in a kind of semi-circle around the harbour. There are many buildings that line the port and each row appears a little higher as they creep up the hill that surrounds the harbour.

We did not have a tour booked for our day in Genoa, so we felt quite unrestricted in our plans. We did want to see the old sections of the city with its architecture and atmosphere, but apart from that we had no definite plans.

... Focaccia! They can't get it out of the ovens fast enough and I leave with two lovely big pieces, piping hot. We find a bench on the sea front to eat it, along with some of the tomatoes we've just bought in the market. Street food. The best, and relatively cheap to boot. ... stop & turn right, much to our surprise. We did as we were told & came to a lovely church overlooking a small cove full of people & fishing boats, so she was right. Resuming our bus trip we ended up in a very nondescript area & returned back to town to get a drink & some food. Dick made a very poor choice so we ended up with a very ordinary pizza & a beer before returning home via the market with a couple of pastries.
