Alps Winter Adventure
St Moritz, Switzerland to Edolo, Italy 12-11-12
Well, well, today started out great and all I can say is that it got better by the mile!! So far this has to have been the best day of this whole adventure!!
I got up at 7h30 and looked out the hotel window only to discover it had been snowing again during the night. Last night I had actually been laying in bed worrying that it may snow again and that I get stranded here for ...
Stranded in St Moritz
... walking the streets at all. Each and every shop is closed; the place is totally dead to say the least!!! The only people walking the streets were tourists such as myself who I suspect were also wondering why everywhere was closed!! Ok yes it is Sunday but surely there must be a few small shops and cafe's open?? No, there was not a single shop open in this whole town.
I searched the streets end to end simply trying to get a cup ...
Sunshine and snow in the Alps
... br> However I continued on towards Chur and kept wondering what he was on about but soon I was to find out!! Sure enough the road was blocked but unlike many other roads in Switzerland it was not blocked by snow but instead by a rock!! This rock was massive and was the size of a bus. It had fallen down the cliff side and landed right in the middle of the road blocking all traffic. Again being on a bike I managed to get round this mighty large boulder!!

What a journey
... no English but another lady helped out. Stayed zermez then off to pontresina to catch the bernina express railway line. Ok know we have seen wonderful parts but this is even better. Got off train at ski ing area, cable car...gondola.. With all the snowboarders,skiers as season opened 20oct to diavolezza bernina 3000m. Wind howled up there through the alps, saw another glacier, nick lost his cashmere lined gloved in the wind but then picked up someone's else's flying ...
Sondrio, Tirano and the Bernina Express
... Now aboard the Bernina Express, 4 hours wandering through the Swiss Alps from Tirano in Italy to Chur in Switzerland and it doesn't disappoint. This is a fantastic way to see the alps and alp towns. I'll let the photos do the talking but I'm not convinced even they will do justice.
