It had rained overnight in Corvara so the roads were wet when we left but it wasn't raining. The good thing was that the roads were ours - hardly any traffic. The bad thing was that the roads were wet and slippery. Canazei was our forts port of call - a very wealthy ski resort. The buildings were very ornate and there was plenty of traffic. braai. Not to be since the moment the sun went behind the mountain the
temperature dropped below anything that is possible to braai in. The braai was
cancelled and we moved across to Stef’s house for an excellent cooked supper
prepared by Stef and Jan. A bottle of wine later we headed back to camp for a
good night's sleep.
... were able to warm up with a pot of Peppermint Tea and a bowl of tomato
soup. Awesome………… Bad luck though, we still needed to walk another 14 odd kms
to reach the village of Spinas where we boarded the train for home.
All in all a 24km walk that took us all of 8 and a half
hours, two blisters and sore legs made it a day to remember.
Needless to say it wasn’t too difficult to get to sleep that
... as they were kind enough to allow us to use
the cable car to get to the top of the mountain first.
As always the scenery was stunning and even though we were
treated to a few drops of rain the excursion was great.
The afternoon was spent watching Stef hard at work teaching
people to kiteboard after which we did some shopping before going for supper at
... and I was, for some reason, upgraded
to Business Class for the second leg of the trip. Being upgraded to Business
Class is like winning the jackpot. The service is fantastic with champagne,
quality food on proper plates and a seat that transforms into a proper bed at
the touch of a button. HEAVEN………….
