... a cup of expresso. Driving back to Bellano we parked again at the train station and walked into town to view the Orrido which we had missed. It was a fast flowing water course that hammered down a steep gorge and was used to power a hydro electric plant. It was quite impressive and you wouldn't believe that it was right in the middle of the town as it was hidden by a high fence and an iron gate. We had to wait for them to open the gate ...

... fee of 4e each. Just past the main gate was a large cage with one of the raptors in it. He was a huge Horned Owl and was just magnificent. The falconer was not around, in fact I think we saw him mowing the lawn, so we couldn't see the birds properly and there was no display set for today. I think they would want a few more visitors up there before it would warrant putting on a show. Along the pathway that led to the castle ruins there was ...

          A few things about Europe

Of course apart from Paris, the areas we have visited have been very mountainous and require a lot of walking up and down steep steps. There were a lot of locals, including whole families, hiking around the mountain resorts in Switzerland. That would certainly work off the kilos! As I mentioned before, public toilets are rare so you need ...

... admiring the various plants and the views from the grounds and then stopped at the cafe for a hot chocolate.

When our two hour parking limit was up we continued on around the lake, funnily enough discovering a public toilet about 2 minutes further on (isn't that always the case!).
The streets got very narrow in some areas and it was necessary to stop and let oncoming traffic through. It was typical of the towns around here that have houses very close together and narrow ...

So this was a great idea in summer

A travel blog entry by stef.pybus on Oct 07, 2015

So just to get things straight. .. in spring I had a student who told me all about her amazing cycle trips around europe and how much fun they were. Long story short, she inspired me and jan to try this out ourselves. Because we worked all summer, and summer was hot, we decided that autumn would be the best time to do this trip. As ...
