... We couldn't believe our eyes though when we drove past 'Scarborough Fish & Chips'!!! On a quiet road miles from anywhere as well, of course we just had to go in! Neil tried the battered Dory and chips and I had grilled Barracuda. It was just ok, we were sooooo disappointed with the chips that were actually fries and the fish was a bit too greasy for me. Mind you on the day we visited there was definately no one from Yorkshire in the kitchen so maybe that's why!

A wet day

Woke up in our tub and the weather was lovely. We packed up our bags which didn't take long as we didn't take anything out as the room was so small. Our next hotel is past Cenang Beach and towards the south of the island. As it was so warm and it's about 30 minutes walk we decided to take a taxi. It cost us £3 which was a total rip off but didn't have much choice. Zachary Guest House is a very cheap, £16 a night, hostel. We got a double room ...

On arriving at the cable cars we headed for lunch then ...

... Lipe. Another jump from ferry to long tail boat was made and we were taken ashore to have a our passports stamped as we were leaving Thailand - Langkawi is part of Malaysia. They kept our passports and transported them on a different boat, which was a bit odd but made sense when we arrived at Langkawi. On the long tail boat we had a little chat with an American man who was the only other person travelling to Langkawi from our boat. He was doing a few months ...

... of the tour. Fifteen minutes later, we floated up to the docks, bundled back into the minivan and headed back to our various resorts. The full day tour must have taken it out of everyone as one by one we all nodded off.

If you ever pay a visit to Langkawi, the mangrove tour is definitely worthwhile. I can only speak for our guide but he was friendly, knowledgeable and clearly loves his job and the wildlife he shares with visitors.
