    Hit the 2000 mile mark today North of Warsaw Still without a map of Russia but we bought the other essentials (wine, shampoo, vodka and brioche). Using the trusty compass to get by and shaking it when it doesn't agree with us! At least we are driving through beautiful countryside with lots of storks, wherever we are heading. Heard from another team that it took them 5 hours to get over the Russian border so trying to get there early with our camping ...

    Shortish ride her yesterday,through pine forests,and very quite roads,it was stunningly beautiful. 270 miles,arriving at our gorgeous hotel,all marble reception,very plush,private parking for bike, Our room had its own private balcony. Last nights meal with wine and beer cost about £7.00. We are travelling into Lithuania ...

    Lovely smooth tarmac, not many lorries and lots of lakes to look at on the journey across the border from Lithuania into Poland.

    Trakai is 25km outside Vilnius, with a Castle in the middle of a lake that dates back to 1400.
    Lots of history surrounding the Karaite people and why they arrived in the area. Very pretty but very touristy although a worthy coffee stop enroute to Elk.

    ... back in the rooms. The weather was still quite cold that day, so we opted out of kayaking and cycling (in hopes the weather would get warmer) and just went for a drive! We ended up in Sejny to check out some cool buildings, and then back towards Suwalki to see the local sights. Nice to be back in the countryside, and to be out of the city for awhile.
